In 2019 when we where only 8 and 10 years of age our grandad "Ray" passed away after a diagnosis of lung cancer.

At one point during his illness he was given just a couple of days to live, but due to the care, treatment and interventions given to him by the Doctors and nurses of the Royal Liverpool Hospital he survived for a further 18 months.

This may not seem a long time but it gave us and our family precious time with Grandad which was time that we would not have otherwise had to share.

In October this year we are Climbing Mt Toubkal at 4,167 meters above sea level, to raise funds for the Royal Liverpool Hospital so that they can help other families in the same way that they helped Grandad.

Mount Toubkal the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. The latest in Big World Treks adventures. 13 intrepid trekkers successful took on the 4167m challenge. From door to door a brilliant 5 day African adventure.

Big World Treks supporting the team from Sunny Mead Surgery that are raising funds for Woking Hospice. An amazing effort that faced extreme heat on the Ben motorway closures on the M6 plus torrential rain and high winds on Snowdon. All this turning a 24 hour challenge into a 48 hour epic.
Am proud of then, a dogged, determined crew that smiled all the way through. Well done guys!!!

A trip to the summit of Ben Nevis supporting 22 Allerton Beavers leaders to raise funds for Albert one of there beaver children aged 6 going through leukaemia. Over £1000raised so far well done ladies👍

Another successful adventure. The Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge in support of the fundraisers for R Charity Royal Liverpool, Aintree and Broadgreen Hospitals. Last fundraiser completed the challenge in 11 hours 24 min. Congratulations to all, a great day and great company!!!

We are all in limbo at the moment, regarding permission to travel due to the covid-19 restrictions. Never the less we are in full preparation mode for all our adventure this year.

With the UK’s vaccination programme in full swing, and the vaccine programmes in our overseas destinations either now started or soon to be, hopes are high that we will be able to travel by the summer.

With this in mind it is important that we stay focused on our goals, keep our fitness levels up and as soon as we are able get out in to the hills.

Once we have the green light, we will be taking on our UK challenges in earnest, plus flying out to Kilimanjaro, Peru and Nepal for what will be the highlight of 2021 and an adventure of a lifetime.

Keep yourselves and your kit ready, don’t get caught out, be good to go, we’re nearly there. 👍
