Just to clarify - the UK government released no further details yesterday regarding international travel.

The Global Travel Taskforce’s report was released on April 9th; 3 days earlier than anticipated.

In early May, we’ll finally hear about countries being categorised!

When Can I Travel? What’s Fact And What’s Fiction?

Today’s headlines yet again are creating confusion for consumers and businesses operating in the travel industry.

As at today nothing as changed, we are all not legally permitted to travel overseas for leisure until the earliest date of 17th May.

On 12th April a government Global Travel Taskforce will publish its recommendations on international travel with a roadmap of how and when international travel will be able to reopen safely. Until this date everything reported by the media is pure speculation.

What has changed is the government are implementing a provision to extend the Coronavirus Bill so that they can, if required, extend restrictions for many areas until July 2021. This doesn't mean that July is the new date!

In addition with the ‘stay at home’ rule coming away as from Monday 29th March to deter any would-be international travellers from travelling (other than for legally permitted reasons) a fine of up to £5k will be introduced to stop anyone travelling that shouldn't be.

Obviously the priority of everyone is to keep us safe but we can't be locked down forever. Over 50% of adults have already been vaccinated and others will be offered one by the end of June. This combined with quicker testing, overseas destinations taking action to make things safer. Travel will resume slowly but surely and we will all know more by the middle of April.

Until then booking with us gives our clients the confidence that should things need to change or be amended they have someone to look after them.
