Situated within the Laikipia region of Northern Kenya, Mitumba Art, run by Sonja Parkinson, is based in Nanyuki on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya. The company’s ethos is to provide fulfilling, paid employment to a cross section of the local youths and community members who would otherwise struggle to find suitable work. Mitumba Art train and employ artists and craftspeople from the surrounding

area to create a wide range of unique hand-decorated items such as beaded cushion covers, table runners, lampshades and jewellery. We also specialise in recycling second hand “Mitumba” market clothes, repairing and re-marketing second hand designer clothes plus creating bespoke soft furnishings and curtains to order. Recently we have also started stocking a broad range of designer wedding dresses from the UK plus we tailor-make beautiful clothes for men and women. How to find Mitumba Art by car: From Nairobi Drive through Nanyuki towards the police station (200m from the bridge and Total garage on your right). Opposite the police station at the crossroads turn left down Lunatic Lane. Drive exactly 1.6km/1 mile. Mitumba Art is signposted on the right.
