As a third generation contractor, my entire family was introduced to the construction industry by my father Charles Cabral, Owner of Gulfside Building Corporation, 35 years ago here in Naples. Working through the trades in the 70s and 80s gave me the opportunity to witness and participate in the development of projects and homes throughout the community. The exposure to the changes in the industry
for the past 25 years has defined Cabral Construction Inc. The following is an introduction to past projects, as well as a target for the future in Southwest Florida, providing an insight to a unique building experience for the client. My family is fortunate to have moved to Naples from Long Island, New York in 1973. Graduating from Naples High School in 1976, and starting a career in the building trades, was the beginning of my experience that has covered the entire spectrum in the industry. Now a father of three, my wife, Leslie, and I have established our company here in Southwest Florida and look forward to the next building experience. There is a diversity that is unique to the company that is strongly based on the experience and exposure we have had living and working in South Florida for over 40 years. Growing up and working in Naples, the Palm Beaches, the Northern Bahamas, and Caribbean, have provided the insight into the history of architecture and lifestyle that is so attractive to all of us. Building and developing in these locations has translated into my passion and desire to share with the client the designing, building, and living of their residence. After graduating from Naples High School in 1976, and moving on to an education in Construction Management, I started a career in the building industry. Working in trades, was the beginning of my experience as a teenager and continued for many years after. Working in the field has allowed me the opportunity to participate hands on in the entire spectrum of the industry in the coastal residential market. Witnessing and participating in the development of so many projects from conception to completion, over time, further expanded the desire to acquire, develop, entitle and build from conception to completion. That being said, in recent years the company moved into and participated in the entitlements and development of several waterfront projects in the Dominican Republic, Abaco Northern Bahamas, Punta Gorda, and Goodland Florida. The acquisition and development of these projects took place during a time that was one of the biggest building booms in decades. What a privilege and education it was to be a part of such a unique time in our economy. It is no surprise that the decline soon thereafter was equally unique and required the business to go back to its roots which was once again focusing primarily on the renovation and additions to properties in coastal communities here in South Florida.
