Lost Boy: A New Musical Lost Boy chronicles Slightly's adventures with Peter Pan and the lost boys in a Neverland shaken by the return of Captain Hook. By Kevin and Kelly Milnes

This musical, inspired by J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, asks "What is Neverland?" as Slightly uncovers Peter's true intentions and Captain Hook's quest for power.

You'll never disappear, Peter. You know about the book. Children look to you for courage and adventure. Adults find comfort that you protect their children. If we lose you, we lose our idea that there are worlds beyond our own - carefree worlds filled with fun and adventure. We always have the trust that we could join you one day. Everyone needs you. You are safety; you are imagination.
-Mother, 'Lost Boy'

TOMBOY: Peter, why are you crying?
PETER: I’m not crying! I just... can’t get my shadow to
stick.
TOMBOY: I’ll sew it on for you later, but now you have to save Slightly!

SERGEANT: No one can top my sniper shot to the heart of the Chief.
TOOTLES: Hey! That was my kill!
SERGEANT: With a sling shot? I highly doubt you have the accuracy and skill with such a mediocre weapon.
TOOTLES: Yea, well I highly doubt that you dress up like a mermaid at night and swim in the lagoon.
SERGEANT: I do not you lyin’ slime cake.
PILOT: Do too you hairy footed slug face.
KAMP: B**b rocket!
ROOSTER: Monster breathe!
NIBS: Rusty nailed witch lover!

(THEY gasp)

TOOTLES: How dare you!?

grown-up Wendy sings "DANCING"

HE ALWAYS TOOK ME DANCING
IT WAS THE CLOSEST THING TO FLYING I COULD FIND

AT FIRST YOU START OUT SLOW
THEN ROUND AND ROUND YOU GO
AND BEFORE YOU EVEN KNOW_______.

HE’S TAKEN YOU BACK TO YEARS GONE BY.
BEFORE YOU EVEN KNEW HOW TO FLY.
BEFORE YOU EVEN KNEW HOW TO CRY.
OR SAY GOOD-BYE.

(music)

I THOUGHT, THOUGHT IT WAS HIM.
WITH THAT GOLDEN GLINT IN HIS EYE;
WHEN HE TOUCHED ME I COULD FLY
I KNEW IT WAS HIM.

BUT THEN I’D WAKE UP- AND I KNEW THE TRUTH
HE WILL NEVER BE YOU…

BUT THEN HE’D TAKE ME DANCING;
FLYING ALL NIGHT LONG.

AT FIRST IT’S SORT OF SLOW
BUT BEFORE YOU EVEN KNOW
AWAY YOU GO______!

NIBS:
Slightly! Get up! Indians on the war path. (pause) Slightly. SLIGHTLY!!

SLIGHTLY:
Wha....oh, right! Where are the rest?

NIBS:
Already up, we’re late!

SLIGHTLY:
I was just having the weirdest dream. There was this lady and I
was-

NIBS:
Oh yea, that’s the lady dream. Everyone's had it at some point.

SLIGHTLY:
That's weird.

NIBS
Not really. Peter said it’s just dreaming about Tink full sized

SLIGHTLY
I don't think the world could handle that.

PETER
No one can catch me! I'm quicker than the birds. I lurk in
the shadows and fly on tailwinds.

BOY
Quiet! Quiet! You'll wake her up! Someone will hear!

(The blankets have fallen off BOY)

PETER
Why, you're slightly a person! You're as weak as a pirate's
chin.

BOY
I don't have much of an appetite.

PETER
I can fix that. We have lots of food. Most of us are rotten
cooks, but TomBoy makes some things half decent. You can
help out, we need another cook.

BOY
What? Don't they serve you food upstairs? The nurses
deliver it to me.

PETER
I don't live here. Just visit for recruiting. Hook'll be
back soon, have to build up my army.

BOY
Hook? Army? Do you think you're Peter Pan? You really are a
nutter.

PETER
(to himself) Why does no one ever believe me?

BOY
Because it's a story. She reads it to me all the time. If
you've heard the others, you've heard this one. Do you
think you're Robinson Crusoe as well?

PETER
Listen, Slightly, that’s my story. It’s about me!

On Neverland:
“If you shut your eyes and are a lucky one, you may see at times a shapeless pool of lovely pale colours suspended in the darkness; then if you squeeze your eyes tighter, the pool begins to take shape, and the colours become so vivid that with another squeeze they must go on fire. But just before they go on fire you see the lagoon. This is the nearest you ever get to it on the mainland, just one heavenly moment; if there could be two moments you might see the surf and hear the mermaids singing.”
― J.M. Barrie

“You know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting.”

“Build a house?" exclaimed John.

"For the Wendy," said Curly.

"For Wendy?" John said, aghast. "Why, she is only a girl!"

"That," explained Curly, "is why we are her servants.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
