I always dreamed of doing something that would make a difference to me and also help me give something back to the society by helping people, though I had no idea how to go about it. Somehow, these dreams never became a reality. There never was any time, looking after the house, brin
ging up the kids and taking care of the elders was my main priority. And now that I finally had the time I didn't want to waste it. After all I was just a housewife with no work experience, just a few hobbies. What could I do? I asked myself, what do I love most? Knitting was my grandmother's gift to me, which I thoroughly enjoyed right from a young age. Soon I realized, like myself, there are other women, who too love to knit and would like occupy themselves and also gain some pocket money as many of these women come from very poor backgrounds. That is when 'Kina's Woolies' was born. I reached out to many of these women and started getting hand knitted throws and duvets made from them. It not only gave them a good source of livelihood but it also empowered them by giving them financial independence. For me, it made my love my passion and my dream come true in a beautiful way, to give a whole new meaning to my life. Kina's Woolies are warm comfortable and completely hand knitted labour of love, based on a simple idea of empowering these women and reviving the dying art of hand knitting.
