The SEASON for NONVIOLENCE is an annual 64-day campaign that runs from January 30 to April 4, honoring the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr1. During this season, participants practice a new principle of peace and nonviolence each day 1. The Compassion Prison Project (CPP) has a similar initiative called 66 Days of Nonviolence where each day, they bring attention to a new way of practicing nonviolence inspired by Gandhi and King’s own principles 2. The first 23 days of the initiative focus on personal change, days 24-47 focus on interpersonal change, and days 48-66 focus on community 2. The goal of the initiative is to spread awareness about the humanity of all people, whether incarcerated or not, and to build bridges between those who are incarcerated and those who are not.
