Benbecula Distillery is the realisation of a long-held dream for local businessman and crofter Angus MacMillan.

Angus has spent his life at the heart of this close-knit Outer Hebridean community, where his family have lived for generations.

He was one of the founding directors responsible for South Uist, Eriskay and Benbecula’s historic community buyout in 2006.

Angus’s entrepreneurial acumen has been the driving force behind the distillery you see today.

What a wonderful day in #southuist celebrating 100yrs of the #marloch A #uist man does not preach, but..... to quote Donnie "One of the key things today, 100 years after our ancestors left, is that our islands are under community ownership. Storas Uibhist now exists to support economic development, job creation and population retention, we would never hope to see mass emigration again. I don't want to sound political, but with the current ferry failures and the horrendous HMPAs we are at risk of a monument being built for us in 103yrs time.
