Near Iquitos and you can still get right out into the jungle. At first, I thought this floating plant to be a species of Aldrovanda ( a carnivore), but now I am thinking it is Utricularia? Maybe? ID thoughts welcome! This was taken in a remote backwater of the Rio Itaya at high water.

Here is a Pepsis-type wasp dragging it's prey back to it's burrow. There all kinds of cool invertebrates to be seen in the Peruvian Amazon!
While out collecting a few weeks ago I witnessed something interesting and new for me, a fishing spider! Isn't it beautiful? He was hanging out on this log across a small creek and waiting for small characins to swim close enough to grab from the water below. You can see it's freshly caught prey in the video.
