TIPS TO GETTING GENUINE TEACHING JOBS IN THE UAE
Genuine teaching opportunities are available for Nigerians in the UAE!
I am a teacher currently living in the UAE, I have lived here for almost a year now.
To be honest, there are far more fake and dubious claims of profitable jobs in this middle-eastern country than there are genuine ones particularly when black people are concerned.
But we have this one cleared out.
To avoid falling victim of scam teaching job claims, here are five tips:
1.) See Things For Yourself
Almost everything happens online in the UAE these days. Whenever there is a genuine opening, there is no hiding it, a quick check on the school's website will reveal all you need to know. You can also just call up the numbers you see online(on the website) to be sure there really is an opening.
I have attached websites of schools with openings for Science Teachers, Kindergarten Teachers, Primary Teacher and more at the end of this post...read till the end.
2.) No Show! No Job!
Things have changed a lot, gone are the days when an international recruiter can do everything by proxy. Imagine hiring someone online with an excellent CV only for the person to appear in person and he or she doesn't have any competence in the subject matter on ground after the company has even paid his or her way into the country. Schools' management are not dumb, if you need the job, travel down and take a demo to show your competence. Run from every "Recruiter" who claims to get all the job done for you after you have paid.
There is 99% chance you are about to throw money away.

3.) Right Qualification Matters!
Around five years ago, the UAE government made reforms in its educational sector that permit only graduates of a particular subject to teach that subject in any school in the UAE. So only graduates of English teach English, so is Math and other Science subjects. It is rare to see any school go around this rule. So, if you studied a subject course in Nigeria, UAE has room for you! Rejoice!
4.) Attested Copy of Original Certificates Is A Must!
If you abandoned your certificates in past school or maybe you just dumped them somewhere because you heard that motivational talk that certificates don't matter, you need to start your journey of restitution very fast! You can't get much done in the UAE without an ATTESTED ORIGINAL copy of your certificates. This point is both technical and easy at the same time, the amount of information on this is more than what just this post will allow. I have a link "How To Attest Nigerian Certificates for UAE Jobs" here to help you with that entire process. I advise you follow that link to save you a lot of headache.
5.) Get Your Own Employment Visa
Most people travel to the UAE on Tourist visas which prohibit working. The UAE isn't really interested in stopping you from coming in to work as long as you change to an Employment Visa. You only get an Employment Visa when a duly licensed employer files you as an employee. This is where the problem is, when a prospective employee tries for a job, the school is allowed, by law, to put the prospective employee on a six month probation period within which they either confirm or fire the person without any obligation. Most schools won't do an Employment Visa for any staff on this probation period because of the uncertainty of performance or loyalty. It means the staff will have to do an exit-and-return journey and tourist visa renewal at least twice at their own cost before he or she gets an employment visa. The cost of these visa change usually amounts to something very close to getting a 2-year solo freelance Employment visa. To know more about this option, click here.
Now imagine if after all that the Employer decides not to hire the individual. This explains why a Freelance Employment Visa is usually the best option to come in to teach with. There are various other reasons as freedom to change career at will or no worry of being rejected and many others.
