Astonishing Saba's Airport # # # (Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport)

The airport, named after the Aruban Minister Juancho Irausquin, has the shortest commercial runway in the world, only 396 meters (1,299 ft) long, flanked on one side by high hills, with cliffs that drop into the sea at both ends.

Although the airport is closed to jet traffic, regional airline propeller aircraft are able to land there under waivers from The Netherlands Antilles' Civil Aviation Authority.

Strange Airport # # # Gisbrone Airport - New Zealand

Gisborne Airport is a small regional airport that is located on the western outskirts of Gisborne, the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The airport is one of the very few airports in the world that has a railway line intersecting the runway. The Gisborne airport which covers a land of 160 hectares has three grass runways and one main runway that is intersected by the Palmerston North - Gisborne Railway Line.

At Gisborne, on the other hand, the rail route functions actively and so does the airport everyday between 6:30 in the morning and 8:30 at night. After that, the runway is sealed off till morning. The railway tracks splits the runway almost in the middle and very often trains or aircraft are stopped until one of them moves on. It is a very challenging task for the airport authorities to manage landing at the intersecting runway along the operational rail route which has scheduled departures and arrivals itself.

The airport is a major link to enter the small region of Gisborne and hosts more than 60 domestic flights. More than 150,0000 passengers fly through this airport each year.

Air India Update: Hand Baggage

Weighing of Hand Baggage* at boarding gates

Air India has decided to implement weighing of the hand baggage at boarding gates across all airport in U.A.E. Free Hand Baggage Allowance for Air India is 8 KG. Any hand baggage including duty free shopping above the allowance will be charged.

*HAND BAGGAGE (CARRY-ON BAGGAGE)

Hand Baggage (Carry-on Bag) should not exceed the dimensions of 55 cms (22 inches) x 40 cms (16 inches) x 20 cms (8 inches) and a total weight of 8 KGs.

In addition to one piece of cabin baggage or package, you may also be permitted to carry one of the following personal items, subject to Security Regulations:

A lady’s hand bag
An overcoat or wrap
A rug or blanket
A camera or binoculars
Reasonable amount of reading material for the flight
Infant’s feed for consumption during the flight and infant’s carrying basket, feeding bottle, if an infant is carried
A collapsible wheelchair or pair of crutches or braces for passenger’s use, if dependent on these
A walking stick
An umbrella (Folding Type)
Medicines required during flight like, Asthma inhaler etc.
A laptop
