Had a wonderful weekend last week at Miawpukek Pow Wow followed by quick trip to St. John’s, home and Flat Bay Pow Wow seeing some friends, getting Beothuk Canvas back after it toured schools in Port aux Port Peninsula, handed off again for more school visits. Now a break with good friend Catherine along our journey on Northern Peninsula.

The Annual Downtown St. John’s Busker Festival is just around the corner!!! Join us for three days of family fun in the heart of the City! August 4-6 weather permitting!!! Free admission but if you enjoy the buskers you can drop a little something in their hats!! See the poster for locations! Starts daily at 12 noon with the last show at 8 pm. Ottawa, Canada Day 2018 memories from Magical Smiles NL. I still can't believe Derek James, Kimberly, and I survived the 47°C (w humidex) record-breaking heat that day. As usual, happy clients made it worth the while. It was very generous of Derek to allow me to apprentice with him... I learned so much from watching him. When it comes to face painting, Derek accepts every challenge. Kids came to us with all kinds of ideas and he never refused them. I loved that he views his face painting as a collaborative act between the artist and client... transforming them both into creators. I remember the little girl with the butterfly face pictured here, she definitely knew how she wanted her butterfly painted; she was such an old soul...
