The great purpose is to set aside a reasonable part of the vanishing wilderness, to make certain that generations of Americans yet unborn will know what it is to experience life on undeveloped, unoccupied land in the same form and character as the Creator fashioned it... It is a great spiritual experience. I never knew a man or women who took a bedroll into an Idaho mountainside and slept there under a star-studded summer sky who felt self-important that next morning. Unless we preserve some opportunity for future generations to have the same experience, we shall have dishonored our trust.

The Redside Foundation, founded in 2010, was created in loving memory of longtime Idaho Guide Telly Evans (1974-2010). Telly was a dedicated Middle Fork of the Salmon guide, a legendary interpreter of the wilderness, and a compassionate friend to all. Sadly, behind his generous smile and unyielding passion, Telly hid a pain that would eventually steal him from the river and friends he loved. The Redside Foundation strives to foster his spirit in others by protecting the health and well-being of the guiding community.

"From earliest communications with Mike regarding logistics and "how the heck can I do this?" everything was smooth, reassuring and possible! Once I was committed, it just got easier. The details of lodging and food options were so helpful in prep for a fairly long drive to Stanley. The details about the float and gear were also spot on.
The guides could not have been more competent, fun and informative! We were lucky to fly in with George and that was an experience in itself! Woot! LOL
Once on the water and camping, I did not want it to end! The food was diverse and beyond amazing! New relationships formed easily and I know there will be life-long connections with many of my fellow floaters! John's music met one of my criteria for selecting this particular float. I was not disappointed; Craig and Mark's music was an added bonus. All of the boxes on my MFRE bucket list---preparing for my next decade---were checked off by take-out on the last day! THANK YOU ALL!"

Middle Fork River Expeditions has been in business for over 60 years and that is no coincidence. MFRE was chosen as one of the top 3 river outfitters in the world by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2008 and 2009. We focus on our guests experience to not just see the river from a distance, but to experience it intimately with the leadership of experienced guides. With over 70% of our guests as past clients or referrals from past river travelers we guarantee a world-class river adventure. There is no Wi- Fi in the wilderness, but we promise you will find a much deeper and rewarding connection.

Our equipment is specially designed for wilderness whitewater rafting, and offers mild and wild boat choices (oar boats, paddle boats, inflatable kayaks and stand up paddleboards). Our river guides are seasoned professionals, licensed by the state of Idaho and First Aid and Swiftwater Rescue V certified. They are expert river runners, magnificent cooks, great storytellers, and knowledgeable, helpful outdoorsmen and friends.

Idaho’s Main Stem of the Salmon River accesses the most pristine and untouched terrain in the US, slicing through the 2.3 million acre Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area, the largest roadless area in the country. The Main Stem of the Salmon River is famous for it’s large sandy beaches for camping, warm water for swimming, great trout fishing, fun and easy whitewater, and the best hot spring in the Pacific Northwest. No river displays all these characteristics quite like the Main Stem of the Salmon River. It also boasts a canyon that is deeper than the Grand Canyon. The river has recently become famous as the best stand up paddleboard (SUP) river trip in the world for it’s warm water (75+F in August) and fun and safe wave-train rapids.
