In 1974, whilst working in the construction industry, Walter Sommer and four of his colleagues commenced Sommer & Staff. Understanding the volatility in the housing market, Sommer & Staff sought innovative ways to ensure the business was stable and successful by working on projects for a variety of industries. Identifying a niche market in projects that were difficult to access or manage; every project was considered a challenge that would provide Sommer & Staff with the well-earned reputation for quality and sophistication held today. Sommer & Staff expanded its interests through a large range of traditional design and construction projects along with carefully researched development projects. ‘Macquarie Place' high rise apartments built in 1980 set a new market standard for excellence with a product that was attractive, well finished, and produced a high rate return for investors. Walter Sommer as founder director/shareholder continues to be involved with the company as Executive Chairman and brings a lifetime of experience to the company and continues to mentor the executive team, Dan Burley and Natasha Sommer-Burley. The company operates in diversified projects and locations, requiring exceptional leadership, the hands-on approach used and the flat organisational structure allows the close management of each project and regular site visits from our executive team; this is the key to our success.
