With the construction of three new man-made islands, the project will comprise of a total of 616 acres of land and 15 km of scenic waterfront development at the Straits of Melaka. The development will encompass iconic touristic landmarks, the largest marina in Asia, international cruise and ferry terminals. Hinged on the longest and busiest straits in the world, Melaka Gateway is easily accessible and poised for an influx of tourist to the state. Further, its strategic location between two regional commercial centres Kuala Lumpur and Singapore connected by highways on land and calm waterways increases accessibility to the development. Visitors to Melaka, a certified UNESCO World Heritage Site, will experience its 752 years old rich heritage that is influenced by cultures of the East and West. With the completion of several engineering and construction projects under its belt, KAJD Group of Companies is on a mission to restore Melaka to its glorious past. KAJD and internationally renowned architect, DP Architects Pte Ltd conceptualized and master-planned Melaka Gateway since 2010. Extensive studies and research were carried out since 2010 among others (Enviromental Impact Assessment, Hydraulic Study, Environment Management Plan) on the environmental and economic impact. In 2014 prior to obtaining approvals (concession to reclaim in 2012) from the state and federal government, the project was launched by our Prime Minister, Dato Seri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak on 7th of February 2014. Melaka Gateway is endorsed as a National Project status by the Federal Government on 6/3/2014, as part of the Economic Transformation Program under the Tourism NKEA by Ministry of Tourism & Culture on 13/6/2014 and Tourism Island by the Melaka State Government on 23/3/2014. Melaka Gateway will be a destination that exudes the grace of the past, the excitement of present and allure of the future.
