Las Vegas, Nevada
August 2020
Spending time in Vegas was fun, however, due to COVID-19, we spent most of our time admiring the grandeur Las Vegas Strip from the confines of our car. We opted to enjoy the in lieu of exploring and experiencing Vegas as we normally would! Seeing the strip from the car was not too horrible. Now the kids know what it looks like and how intricate it is in Vegas. The architecture and detail is impressive. This picture is a perfect example of the amazing design that goes into designing these buildings.

Las Vegas, Nevada
August 2020
After driving for almost 10 hours all the kids wanted was Chick-Fil-A (Sigh) So, before even getting to our hotel, we ventured out to find one! The closest one was “apparently” right in the heart of Planet Hollywood and the Vegas Strip! Or so we thought?!?!! We spent about an hour, after parking, walking, and waiting for our food! Just to get to our hotel to find a brilliantly located right NEXT to our hotel! Go figure!

We finally arrived in V•E•G•A•S•
It was a pretty quick and easy nine hour drive! We only made N•I•N•E pit stops! It was pretty dark by the time we got to our hotel, but we can’t wait to show you around the property tomorrow! Think a tropical desert oasis!!!

Our Anniversary!
We married 18 years ago, In Rosarito, Mexico. Our love story is my favorite. We knew it was right within 6 months of dating and got engaged in Guam just shy of knowing each other six months. We have lived in 8 homes, have 5 kids, have had 10 cars, have sailed at least 4,000 nautical miles, owned one sailboat, visited 12 countries, flown more than a million air miles, lost 3 dads, experience one pandemic and the list goes on and on.... suffice it to say, what ever comes our way, there is no one else I would rather do life with! Swipe —> to see 10 pictures that span over 19 years of life together! If I were to give advice, I would say first and foremost putting God at the center of our relationship, has been huge for us! Secondly.... communicate. Especially the hard topics. Don’t let things bottle up!

San Mateo, California July 2020
With all of the changes in the world today, I have had the opportunity to explore locally. Where normally, I would be out and about as much as possible I have had to stay close to home. We love traveling and are a bit stir crazy... so we took a quick trip to the Bay Area. I found the cutest aquatic park. I suspect it is normally bustling with activity... but nope! It was quiet! Peaceful actually. There were people at the beach/park side but no one on was on this side!

San Juan, Puerto Rico December 2018
Feeling the need to give my handsome hubby a shout out! He is the hardest working man I know. When I came across this image, it reminded me that we all just need to stop and breathe. Especially him. The grind of every day has a way of wearing you down. Other than his grey hair sprinkled throughout his hair, you would never guess. Until he is ready to nap, then he falls asleep on a dime. Anywhere. Anytime. Trying to get this guy to take a break, take a vacation, get away for a quick minute is really tough. But, once I do... he sure does enjoy his time away! I love him and all he does for our family. I love loving him and I even love the fact that I love him every day, not just Fathers Day or his birthday. So cheers to you my hardworking husband. Let’s go take a nap and cuddle!****************************************

In an uncertain time... in a world full of chaos... in a divisive community... in a moment where nothing is predictable...
I choose to be positive.
I choose to be supportive.
I choose to be happy.
I choose to continue to dream.
I choose to be me.
I choose to love my ALL my sisters.
I choose to empower other women.
I choose to teach my daughters to love everyone.
I choose grace.
I choose acceptance.
I choose forgiveness.
I choose LOVE.
Don’t ever give up on what you believe. If you don’t chase your dreams, no one will.

Back when we were all oblivious to what was to come just a few months later! In hindsight, I would have just stayed right here on this perfectly pristine island and I would have been forced to quarantine here for the last six months! But, imagine if we could predict the future. I feel we would all live in a state of fear, lacking imagination, and resigning to not following our dreams. ***************************************

Taylor Creek, South Lake Tahoe, California July 2020
When I saw this picture in my photo feed from last weekend, it reminded me of a movie I watched last night. Which path should we take? I had the option to either take this bridge path or a dirt path to the right. Each path led me to the same end spot, but one path was more difficult than the other. Literally, every decision we make has both an action and a reaction; furthermore, it not only affects us but so many others around us. When teaching my kiddos about decision making, I really do try to instill the concept of good decision making based on how it will affect not only yourself, but also, those around you. **************************************

While we are sticking closer to home for the summer, we have been doing a ton of crafts! This was a hit for the teenagers. Jewelry making with hand stamping tools. They got extra creative and had the brilliant idea to start a business making necklaces and bracelets to sell. They even named their business. I love how a small craft project turned into a big dream! I love these girls!

Grand Sierra Resort, Nevada July 2020
If I am being honest, there were a lot of things I did not like about this hotel. Partly due to all of the COVID-19 restrictions, but partly due to their customer service, which is HUGE to me! I had a ton of bad experiences this past weekend. But one thing that was amazing was their beds!!! I could have packed these up in my suitcase and brought them home with me! I think the kids felt the same way! I definitely give these beds a 10! The decor and space in the room was also a 10!

Echo Lake, Tahoe, California July 2020
We literally have driven to South Lake Tahoe a million times, yet we have NEVER explored this little lake to the West of Lake Tahoe. Just a blip on the map we decided to explore and see what the little lake was all about. It was amazing. It was small, quaint, and full of hiking trails! So, I suggest if you have not gone off the beaten path to explore this cute little lake, next time you are in the area. Check it out!*************************************

100% not the turquoise waters I envisioned for the summer, but, we will take what we can get! It has certainly challenging today at the pool. Between having to wear our masks when not at the pool, the pool not@opening until 9am, seating of groups not to exceed 6 people, no umbrellas, and the list goes on... we are still trying to make the best of a bad situation. What else can we do?

Donner Lake Truckee, California July 2020
Because we decided to stop and enjoy the view, we ended up meeting a nice couple willing to take our picture. It reminds me how much I like meeting people when we travel. It always is a fun experience every single time. It does not matter how old they are, if they are married or single, if they have kids or not. It always is nice to hear someone else’s story! Our story today? My husband is remodeling our kitchen and didn’t need to have littles under his nose all weekend. My big girls wanted to stay at home and keep him company... err, wanted to hang out with friends! Either way, we all got to do what we wanted to do this weekend! I live the fresh air of the mountains! **************************************

Donner Lake, Truckee, California July 2020
What a beautiful view from this unexpected stop along the way. We try to stop at any pull off along our route, because we have been told it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. For example, last week, we pulled over on our way to Tahoe and found the most beautiful waterfall. It’s the expected stops and experiences along the way that make it the most memorable in my opinion. Last time we went to Reno, we had stopped at this exact spot. It must have been memorable to Elijah, because he told me her remembered stopping here last time we drove to Reno.

Fourth of July shenanigans! The kids actually bought fireworks (safe and sane) for the first time and set them off in a parking lot (legally) towards the end of the night. A first for our family! This is one of our signature shots when we go out and about! When we see a wall we get on top of it and we pose! Over the years we have *almost* perfected the idea if we see a wall we get on it and pose! It really is fun looking back at all the old photos with the same pose throughout the years! I will have to do collage of through the years. On a completely separate note... we kinda stumbled upon this lake! We were looking at some property and kept driving just to find this pristine clear water lake with hiking trails abound! It was pure perfection as far as we were concerned!

This tree made me really stop and think! My first instinct was to stare at the beavers work in awe! Impressive for a little guy to do this much damage! Immediately following my amazement, came this feeling of anger towards the beavers. Next... I had a realization! This IS the circle of life! It may look different for everyone but destroying trees is a survival mechanism for these beavers. They are certainly hard workers. Swipe right to see the different stages of their work and survival tactics. This really did open my eyes to a larger observation, we are all just trying to survive. No matter which group we belong to, we may destroy, hurt, fail, and worse, die trying to just live. We need to respect each other and the way we are just trying to survive.

This creek fills up with Kokanee salmon every mid-October! I can’t wait to come back and catch images of the creek when it turns completely salmon red to spawn in shallow waters. Last year we came up at the end of September and were a few weeks too early for the upstream barrage of Kokanee. Also, in speaking to a volunteer, she told us bears are coming out of hibernation and make their way to the creek head just in time for the spawning event. How exciting and scary all at the same time. **************************************

This beautiful young lady has always wanted to be older than she was. Now, at fifteen, she will be an adult in less than three short years. I wish I could freeze time, but alas, I can not. She will be out of the house and out from under my watchful gaze before I know it. As we walked this short hiking trail all six of us were pretty scattered, but for some reason she stayed close to me, and I to her. She probably didn’t even realize how many pictures I took of her just taking in the natural beauty that surrounded her. Just like her surroundings, she is naturally beautiful inside and out. I will miss her so much when she moves out in a few years, so until then I will cherish these fleeting moments with her.

Yes At first glance this is a beautiful view of the south shore of Lake Tahoe. But at second glance, you can see the effects of a wildfire that ripped through the forest here a few years ago. I believe it was the Angora Fire. While it is imperative for fires to occur, it is also very sad and in order to prevent them from being provoked by man, we must be cautious and aware of fire danger while visiting these beautiful areas. **************************************
