Well the Summer season is nearly at an end, and what an amazing Summer it’s been. Thankyou so much to everyone that trusted us with your precious holiday time ❤ It was an absolute pleasure to host you again, some for their third, fourth and even fifth time! We are so grateful and can’t wait to meet up with you all again next year ❤

We are now booked up for Summer 2025, but have some time still available at Easter.

Romería de la Virgin del Saliente 7th/8th September

Every 7th of September a religious walking pilgrimage to Saliente Monastery takes place. In Albox there is usually a firework display in the old square at midnight where lots of pilgrims set off through the evening the 18 kilometres to the picturesque Saliente Monastery. Lots of towns and villages take part in this area, but people come from all over Spain to do it.
During the following few days, Hundreds and hundreds of pilgrims pass Cortijo Mariposa just before they start the climb up to the monastery. This amazing spectacle can be watched from our gardens with lots of head torches and singing going up the mountain.
The pilgrimage is made in commemoration of a Marian Apparition that was said to have occurred at the end of the 17th century. The following day there is usually a market and more celebrations at the Monastery

On barmy hot days like today, it’s lovely in the evenings to enjoy some cooler air. The pool is the perfect temperature for night time swims serenaded by a chorus of crickets!

Evening all! 🙂 Well Summer is definitely here (phew!)

We have already had quite a few requests for next year and so have got organised at last, and invested in a wall calendar for 2025. After the weekend I will also be opening up the Summer 2025 calendar with Airbnb, so if you usually book direct, and have an idea of dates you want reserving, then please let me know as soon as possible (we can tweek dates nearer the time and when flights are published) but at least then your preferred dates will be reserved.
