Day 2 Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave is a fascinating destination in Nepal, located in Pokhara, opposite Davis Fall .This massive cave stretches 2, 950 meters, making it the longest in Nepal .Its name pays homage to Lord Shiva, with "Gupteshwor Mahadev" translating to "Great God" in Sanskrit ³.*History and Discovery*The cave was discovered in the 16th century by local men clearing grass .They stumbled upon various shrines and statues dedicated to Shiva and other Hindu deities, including Mahadev, Parvati, Nageswor, and Saraswati *Exploring the Cave*As you venture into the cave, you'll notice its darkness, despite some lighting .Bringing a head torch is recommended for a better experience. The cave has two main chambers with several shrines, including a large Shiva temple where photography is prohibited .Be cautious, as the ground and staircase can be slippery, especially during monsoon season . It has more than 300 stairs to be climbed down and very small cave wherein one person can bend and walk , bit scary yet adventurous, the cave has limestones and continuously water was dripping, below we can also find the patal chango where dead body of Davis was found , once in a lifetime experience We started with the beautiful spiral staircase that you take just to get down to the entrance to the cave. As you descend the long first staircase you will see the Mahadev temple which has shivlinga and nag covering shivlinga and continuous water flow performing Abhishek on ShivlingaNext further we move down ,entire section is about 125 feet and at the end there are very rough steps that lead you the rest of the way down. Here you are in a big cavern with the only real light coming from the main slit in the center.
