1️⃣ Not many know that the Acqua Paola Fountain came into being as the terminal fountain for the ancient Roman aqueduct built in by Trajan emperor

2️⃣ Its façade features six columns, no less than four of which come from the previous incarnation of St. Peter's Basilica, built under Emperor Constantine!

3️⃣ Featured in the opening scene of Paolo Sorrentino's Oscar-winning film called “La grande bellezza” “The Great Beauty” 2013

🏛 Facts you should know about the equestrian statue of G Garibaldi:

1️⃣ The statue is also known as“Hero of the two worlds”in tribute of the twin statue you can visit in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina for leading the Uruguayan Civil War during the XIX century

2️⃣On a side of the statue, the sculptor Ettore Ferrari had created a crown in order to remember that Giuseppe Garibaldi was one of the first master of Italian Freemasonry

3️⃣Quite funny to know that the monument was originally facing the Vatican as Garibaldi had the ambition to conquer even the Papal State 😃

🌋 Facts you should know about the Roman Castles:

1️⃣ The Alban Hills are the remains of one of the biggest volcanic complex in Italy. Located 15 km southeast of Rome, Monte Cavo forms a high peak 1000mt above the sea level, visible even from the seven hills of Rome city centre!

2️⃣ The volcanic area contains 2 lakes: Albano and Nemi (remarkable for its wild strawberries that you will certainly taste during the tour). The lakes offers an extraordinary panoramic view

3️⃣ Albano lake and the Roman Castles were populated by the Etruscan civilization up to the 3rd and 4th century BC. Veii city still exists and was their richest city until the fall in the battle against the Roman general Camillus. Veii continued to be occupied after its capture also by Roman emperors.

🏛 Facts you should know about Janiculim:

1️⃣ The name derived from the Ancient Roman God Janus. The God of beginnings and transitions. Usually depicted with two faces because he looks into the future and the past simultaneously. His temple was erected once on top of the hill

2️⃣ Cannon at Noon. Every day at 12:00 noon, a cannon fired a tradition since 1874. Get ready to set your watch, you can hear it as far as Piazza Navona and even by the iconic key hole on the Aventine Hill located on the opposite side of the river Tiber

3️⃣ La Grande Bellezza “The Great Beauty” is a 2013 film directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The opening scene is set on the Gianicolo Hill, first with the firing of the cannon, then at the extraordinary fountain “Fontana dell’Acqua Paola”
