This morning Disney dropped a double whammy. From the official Disney Parks blog:

"Get ready to open the door because Mike and Sulley are coming to town!

That’s right, humans will be able to enter the world of Monsters, Inc. when it is added to the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Building off the exciting announcements from last summer’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new land will include the coaster we’ve all dreamed of – a suspended ride recreating the door vault scene – plus dining and shopping and a whole new theater show."

First, Muppets Courtyard will close for construction of the new Monsters Inc land. The new land will include a suspended coaster recreating the door vault scene, as well as dining, shopping and a whole new theater show.

That's right, Monsters Inc is coming to Hollywood Studios.

But, let's just add to the news. According to the official Disney Parks Blog, Miss Piggy and friend are headed to the other side of the park....

"To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!"

I've learned over the years that is is useless to question why the imagineers do what they do, especially since 9 times out of 10, I end up delightfully surprised by the end result. We love the Muppets in this household. We also adore Monsters Inc. I am happy they both have a home at Hollywood Studios and am confident this will only add to the charm of the park.

Super Saturday: This morning I was doing a bit of admin work in my office that included organizing my upcoming calendar.

Familiarizing oneself with new destinations and industry developments is essential for staying competitive in the travel industry. By engaging in educational opportunities, such as classroom sessions and hands-on experiences, we can expand our knowledge of the latest trends and offerings. This includes learning about upcoming promotions and enhancing personal travel expertise by testing new products, like the Lightning Lane Premier Pass newly released by Disney. My upcoming schedule demonstrates this commitment: In October, I will attend an in-house training at Universal Resort Orlando, including classroom time and Halloween Horror Nights. In November, I will head to Disneyland in Anaheim for the opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, experience the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass, and attend Mickey's Holiday Pajama Party Brunch. In December, I will spend ten days in Paris, including a visit to Disneyland Paris, followed by a sailing aboard the Norwegian Encore early next year. These experiences will provide invaluable insight into new products and destination experiences, ensuring I stay at the forefront of industry trends. First hand knowledge of new products ensures I am able to advise my clients as best as I possibly can.

Two for Tuesday.

Happy October and HAPPY 53rd BIRTHDAY, Magic Kingdom. While the official dedication did not happen until the 25th, Magic Kingdom opened on this day in 1971.

Coined "The Florida Project," a park in Orlando was a dream of Walt Disney's - one that he would never see come to fruition. He passed away December 1966. His brother, Roy, was left to finish work on the “Florida Project.” Five years after the death of Walt Disney, the dream was realized, which culminated with the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971.

Roy dedicated the park on 10/25/71, saying, “Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney … and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney’s dream come true. May Walt Disney World bring joy and inspiration and New Knowledge to all who come to this happy place … a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn – together.”
