Syros is the capital of the Cyclades islands and is accessible via a flight from Athens or a ferry from its neighbouring islands of Paros, Naxos, Mykonos, Ios, Tinos and a few others. The small town of Ano Syros close to the town of Ermoupoli is buzzing and beautiful. It’s worth a taxi to the top for a view of Ermoupoli and you can wander through the streets until you arrive at the bars, cafes and restaurants. Lots of steps but child friendly for children above 4 or 5. Anything younger might be tricky if you’re not using a carrier.

The walk from Milopotas beach in Ios to Chora is a steep one, but well worth it for these incredible views and hotel hopping stops along the way. Follow the steps behind and it will take you all the way to town for that morning freddo cappuccino. Don’t miss a chaotic stop at the for the best coffee and milkshake in town, as awarded by my 10 year old.

Santorini, you were a dream ☁️. A stunning hotel located in Fira and walking distance to all of the action. Staff were friendly and informative, the pool, rooms and grounds were spotless, and there was always a pool bed available for some relax time. We will be back next year, definitely our new favourite hotel in Santorini.

Ios, you left me in the best possible food coma last night. Amazing service and delicious seafood inspired meals. The sea bass skewer was 👌. Located in the Ios port and the perfect dinner venue for a date night, as there weren’t many kid friendly meals for fussy eaters.

If you fancy lunching or brunching in a Santorini garden then is your place! We had the omelette which could have fed 4 and the waffles were just as tasty. Food was amazing, large portions, great service and well priced. The thank you treat was also a nice touch. The live music oozed cool vibes, will definitely return next year.

Assos Village, Kefalonia. The prettiest little village. We explored by foot and found some secluded beach coves for a quick dip 🌊, before dining at one of the local tavernas.

Ferries are the easiest mode of transport when island hopping in the Greek Islands. I’m prone to sea sickness therefore always looking to ride with the largest ship in the ocean. The bigger the boat the less movement. There are a few main companies who run regular services throughout summer, and I had not yet travelled with until yesterday.
So impressed with the Super Express. This was the first Greek ferry in 15 years that has ran on time, and it was spotlessly clean and organised. The rush onboard was non existent, it was a relaxing experience. You’re setting the new standard! 10/10 !

Don’t miss out on Svoronos bakery in Fira, Santorini.
Cakes, juices, fresh sandwiches, mini home made ice creams and one of the best coffees on the island. Our daily go to for all of the above! It’s always buzzing with people as everything is so fresh and yummy, open 24/7 which is a bonus for the midnight snackers like myself!

Do yourself a favour and head to Thaloto for lunch or dinner when in Santorini. The extremely fresh calamari & chicken kebab were cooked to perfection. One of my loves for Greece is the kindness of their people. They are so grateful for your business, and show this through feeding you, which is good and bad, but misty good. 🤣🤣. Practically every meal is accompanied by an after dinner treat. Thaloto offered us their house digestive as well as their homemade Kormos. It’s safe to say we all argued who would lick the plate. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

If you’re heading to the Cyclades islands this summer, don’t forget to stop by Folengandros. This small Greek island is full of surprises, and our stay at made our time here even more incredible. Folegandros is accessible by ferry from many of the other islands in the Cyclades.
