Sunsets on the Quietside at Seal Cove 💛🧡💖💜💙

Shhhh! Don’t tell, but Seal Cove is one of our favorite (semi-secret) sunset spots on Mount Desert Island! Since it’s not part of Acadia National Park and is located a bit off the beaten path in Tremont, Seal Cove draw significantly fewer visitors compared to many spots on the island, despite its direct sunset view over the ocean.

Whether you walk, hike, bike, or travel by water, you can get there from here! The carriage roads in Acadia make it easy for visitors of all ages to explore amazing places l, like Eagle Lake. These accessible and well marked trails will take you where you need to go around the National Park and you may even discover surprises like wildlife sightings along the way!

Popover anybody??? We had the recent opportunity to dine at the watching a beautiful sunset over Jordan Pond while munching on some not-to-be-missed scrumptious popovers! An iconic Acadia pastry with an iconic Acadia view 🌄🥮

Tip: our trick to getting a reservation at this popular spot last minute is to look for openings at the end of the evening - we were able to grab a spot around 8:30 just a day ahead of time and still had gorgeous views from our table with a lot less people around.

Deer Isle Oyster / Golden Oak takeover of Fogtown Ellsworth 🦪🍺🦪🍺

Along the way to MDI, there are so many hidden gems. A standout spot is this community-forward business that’s not only a great local brewery, but also serves as a music venue and space for folks to gather and enjoy themselves. We recommend Fogtown for their wood fired pizzas, ever-changing brews, and all around good vibes. Tonight, we enjoyed an oyster pop up from as well as new oyster saison, Aqua Culture, while enjoying the smooth indie rhythms of - a great night! Fogtown also has a second location in Bar Harbor that’s worth checking out as well.

Friday night was definitely better for viewing the aurora, but here was our view and set up on Saturday night. Hadley Point is such an awesome spot for sunset viewing and stargazing over the ocean - with the huge bonus that you can make a fire on the beach 🌊🔥✨🌙

Magically the aurora borealis made a surprise visit to the Northeast last night! It was pretty cloudy most of the night across MDI, but this photo was taken at Hadley Point during a brief moment of clarity. The Northern Lights may be visible again for one more night, so looking forward to hopefully clearer skies and more viewing potential tonight!
