A Unique Nelson Activity - The Armarie Room at Founders Park
see historic printing equipment operating in a contemporary art and design business
I have known Renee since she set up shop in the neglected old printery at Founders, and turned it into an amazing creative and artistic environment. She now successfully offers group activities.
This is one of these "Off The Beaten Track" activities where your clients "Meet The Artist" and will love you for it. Here is what to expect when you visit the Armarie Room:
The Armarie Room is an award-winning creative studio specialising in traditional letterpress and printmaking. Founded by artist Renee Hadlow, it is one of the very few places in New Zealand where you can see historic printing equipment operating in a contemporary art and design business.
A tour of the studio offers the opportunity to operate vintage presses and discover the creativity of print. Activities are based on group interest and are especially popular with people that love hands-on learning.
You’ll be guided by award-winning artist Renee, a passionate printmaker and educator with a deep love of sharing her knowledge of this historic art form.
Participants will produce beautifully printed work that they will be able to take home with them. They will be also be able to view products and artwork produced in the studio, all of which are unique to Nelson and available to purchase.
Most group sessions accommodate 6-8 people and run for 30 minutes. However we regularly work with larger group sizes and will tailor our service to your requirements and timeframe. Allow for $20-$30 per person depending on group size. Discounts may apply for large groups.
Reservations for this activity also provide free entry to Founders Heritage Park.
Bookings need to be made at least 24 hours ahead. For further information regarding reservations contact [email protected] or text/call 021629346.
You will receive a response to your query on the same-day.
