Promosi mereka tinggal 2 hari sahaja lagi. Jika anda ingin membelinya, tempah di laman web rasmi sebelum kehabisan stok:

How many new to using the headscarf is like me - overwhelmed with the options and choices out there?

I had a comfortable collection of basic colours - n**e, black and cream. I was also gifted with some beautiful shawls in the past too but it was when I started wearing the headscarf on a daily basis …that’s when I started being adventurous with different colours and styles.

But with that?
OMG!
Azmi would shake his head at my shopping sprees. Just when I thought I had ALL the inners to complement my different shades of colours?
I’d find a another hue or material or style 😆.

Kadang-kadang rasa malas juga nak matching matching, especially when it is just a quick school run or to get some groceries.

Abby scarves was introduced to me by a friend while we were doing a summer course in 2019. Because it’s pleated and comes with a adjustable inner, styling was a breeze and I don’t have to worry about pins and brooches (I’m always losing them 😅)

I just noticed they have a new logo and dangling pendant attached to their scarves. Ilon likes to play with it when I’m nursing him which is handy as he has the habit of tugging my bits when he’s distracted.

That basically sums up my “hijab” journey so far.

My short bob is easy to wash but has it’s styling challenges too.

So will my head covering stay? I don’t know.

But I think we shouldn’t be too hard on those who are yet to make it a permanent decision.

What do you think?

I am EXTREMELY proud to be a Kadazandusun from Sabah, the Land Below the Wind - so whenever I am able to showcase my traditions, culture and to realign the misconception about my community, I am very vocal about it.

A friend recently shared an article about a 23 year old Sabahan who has received nasty messages to “𝑮𝒐 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒉 𝒍𝒂𝒉” for the way he looked and spoke.

The lad has tattoos and was also criticised for being gay and because he spoke English, instead of Bahasa Melayu, well.

I remember an attack on me for speaking “funny BM” - “ko orang *Dayak bodo”

I was hurt and it was because of that incident that I did not emcee in BM for a long time till one day? I decided my slang is unique and beautiful to others.

I now pepper my scripts with bits of my Sabahan slang.

When I reverted, many assumed my traditional costume would be by default, the Baju Kurung. I continue to defy that notion.

Recently? I “modified” my baju kadazan to be more modestly dressed for the official event and to complement my progression.

I’ve not had an opportunity to sew one with longer sleeves and one that covers my chest. So though it looks a bit “off”, the intention was to showcase my culture.

One of the guests asked if I was Melanau “as most Melanaus are Muslims”

On my head is a 𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒌, a head cover that usually complements the traditional wear. It was hard to find someone who could sew this for me so it would sit well.

What other stereotypes have you received for being who you are?

I was a single mother when Isobel was barely a year old. I vowed not to get married again as we were quite happy just the two of us.
13 years later?
She has 5 other siblings ❤️
We’ve had our share of ups and downs but one thing remains constant. My devotion to my family especially the children. All that I do, is with them in mind first.
Thanks for the memories . My quick go to place for refuge and a reset. Let’s see if this cart will withstand for pictures with my future cucus.

Tonight I had to look for some pictures to complement my presentation slides and I came across (or rather, did) of these photos.
Azmi told me he sometimes misses my locks and the old look.
As I pen this down - I know and expect what some netizens are going to say so I shall save you the trouble and say it here.
Yes, naturally sis “free hair” kat rumah. But my hair was chopped off for Locks Of Hope and I’m almost in my inner or cap since I’m constantly on virtual meetings at home. So either he sees me like a wet cat (lepas mandi) or my head is already covered.
My short bob is manageable. But I do miss running my fingers through my once long hair. Or playing around with different styles to go out.
Do I miss not donning the headscarf?
Of course!
There are different challenges to styling my modest wear without losing my own personal fashion sense.
Plus I have so many beautiful dresses and tops that I’ve not had the heart to let go … just yet.
I’ve mentioned this before - does what you wear … or don’t wear …determine your judgement day?
My WHY on wearing a headscarf did not stem from some 𝒉𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒉 as most people would call it. It was pure vanity and convenience to cover my roots while trying to grow my hair out - untouched chemically for 8 months before I could donate it.
And then? I just got used to wearing it. Sometimes I’m in a cap or just a loose shawl. Sometimes my skirt is 3/4 long or my tops are a bit on the tight side.
I definitely know I’m far away from my spiritual goals as I miss my prayers despite feeling remorse each time I am not on my mat for devotion time.
I can understand why some decide to remove their cover.
The sanctimonious and sometimes nasty folks identifies one who dons the 𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒖𝒏𝒈 as to be someone who 𝒅𝒂𝒉 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒂f … the symbolism of a Muslim woman covering her hair is a HUGE thing in our country. Whether we like it or not.
The pressure is realz.
I sometimes feel hypocritical as I project my outer look but still caruts like a sailor, neglects her solats and well. Just being 𝒎𝒆.
Am I the only one feeling this way? 😞
