Occupational hazard of a travel business owner is working on a client trip for Lapland, and end up booking your own Lapland adventure 🙈
Last year, I was creating an itinerary for a client trip to Lapland.. and ended up planning the once in a lifetime trip for ourselves too 😂🫢🥰😍 It's been nearly a year since I planned this trip (Lapland requires booking far in advance to secure the best places), and I cannot WAIT to go! I planned a very bespoke trip for us as we wanted to pack as much in as possible and have very specific dates due to the limitations of school holidays, and of course Christmas itself!
Here's our itinerary:
Day 1
London - Helsinki
We opted for an overnight stay in Helsinki to not only reduce flight costs, but also to maximise our time in Lapland by arriving early the next day. The overnight hotel stay was nearly £200 cheaper than flying a connecting flight!
Day 2
Helsinki - Kittilä
Arrival @NorthernLightsVillage, Levi.
We chose the new Aurora Suites, which are slightly bigger than the cabins and have their own sauna 💆♀️ This is ideal for us as a family. Bubs can sleep whilst we sauna 😏 We also opted for full board to make things as easy and relaxed as possible so we can fully immerse in the wonders of Lapand.
On arrival, we have a chilled day at the SPA, followed by Aurora Hunting by Heated Sleigh (3h)
Day 3
Activities for today:
Kids Snowmobile (1h)
Husky Safari 5km (1h)
Searching for Santa (3h)
Day 4
New Year's Eve 😍
Reindeer Express (25min)
Cross-Country Skiing Lesson (2h)
Celebration dinner
Fireworks at Midnight
Day 5
Kittilä - Helsinki - London
Return home. We opted for the early connecting flight home so that we had a day to recover before heading back to school & work 🤓😴
