If you’re looking for something to do, we would highly recommend the Logan Fish Pond in Port Logan. Less than a 30 minute drive from the cottages, it boasts beautiful scenery, a history of the fish pond and a gift shop selling bait, gorgeous gifts and fishing equipment.

Staff are very knowledgeable and you get to learn and see a variety of different fish 🐠

Looking for something to do? What about a round of golf on the Portpatrick Dunskey Golf course?

Just a 2 minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the Tartan Escapes cottages, it has beautiful views and a fantastic course to play on!

In 1912, the facility was extended to form what was then a ladies course, a nine-hole, par 3s, which is now called the Dinvin Course; a fair test for regular and holiday golfers alike. The club celebrated its Centenary in 2003. Since inception, the course and clubhouse have been gradually extended and improved, and a new extension to the clubhouse was completed to mark the Centenary.

Each cottage has a lovely garden with sitting out area at the back. Freshly laid Astro Turf with brand new picnic tables for socialising, clothes airers for hanging your clothes out on those sunny days and shared storage sheds to store your bikes or golf clubs in while you stay.

Sandhead is a local village to Portpatrick located on the Luce Bay coast of the Rhins of Galloway.

The beach at Sandhead is popular with boat owners and kite surfers and is perfect for going walks with and without the kids and dogs.

With Sands of Luce Holiday Park and Tigh Na Mara Hotel & Restaurant at hand for delicious food and a nice drink or two, it’s a perfect spot for everybody ☀️🏖🥘

DUNSKEY CASTLE

A beautiful circular walk along the cliffs to the south of Portpatrick takes you to the ruins of Dunskey Castle. With steep steps and good coastal scenery, this makes a great walk for those who like hiking or climbing.

Did you know each of the cottages feature 2 twin bedrooms, that have plenty of storage space and modern dressing tables in each master bedroom?

These freshly painted rooms and comfortable beds make for a relaxing and restful sleep after a hard day trekking round the beautiful coast.

The weather really was in our favour this weekend ☀️

This video was taken just a 5 minute walk from the Tartan Escapes cottages. This view is from the viewing spot just in front of the Old Portpatrick Hotel.

When you get to the bottom of the steps there is a fun little park for the kids to play at and you get a lovely view of all the boats in the harbour.

On Saturday, we enjoyed a lovely late lunch at The Old Colfin Creamery. We’ve been here a few times before and as always, the food is delightful!

Pate with sourdough toast and chutney to start followed by baked haddock served with pea purée, sautéed new potatoes, batter scraps and a warm tartare sauce.

It’s a small restaurant but very cosy and homely. The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. They cater well for children too, even the fussy ones!

We love it and think you will too ❤️

A HUGE shoutout to Gillian and Jamie from House To Home Furnishers who supplied and delivered the furniture for all of our Tartan Escapes cottages.

They have gone above and beyond in helping us to ensure the holiday cottages were furnished to a luxurious standard in time for opening. Without their help, support and dedication it wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did.

We highly recommend! 😃
