Where to spend your Christmas Day in Prague? ❤️

December 25th is when most Czechs take rest, but there are still going to be some places open for you to visit. So if you don’t mind crowds, head to ➡️

• Prague Castle - the whole area of the castle is opened as usual and is free off charge, while the castle interiors (like St Vitus Cathedral) will be opened after lunch 🏰

• National Museum - most museum buildings, including the historical one, will be opened since 10 am till 6 pm ⭐️ (we recommend booking your tickets online on the official website nm.cz)

• Old Town Hall will be opened since 11 am 🎅

Prague Gardens close for winter 🍁

Since November 1st till March 31st, most gardens in Prague will be closed 🚨

The list includes Royal Garden, Deer Moat, Gardens Below Prague Castle, Southern Gardens, as well as the Waldstein Garden.

Today (31.10) is the last day you can visit before winter, so hurry up! 🎃

Free section of the St. Vitus Cathedral is now closed indefinitely ❌

Due to the installation of the pipe organ, the free section of the St. Vitus Cathedral is now closed indefinitely. It is estimated that the installation will take up to 6 months!

In the meantime, you can still visit the cathedral if you buy a ticket to the castle interiors at the information center ℹ️

‼️Attention Praguers/Pozor Pražáci (česky ⬇️)‼️

“The Grinch” is trying to close Naplavka Farmers Market in December and open a Christmas market there instead ! 🎄

Some of you might know that the iconic farmers market on Naplavka has been held there every Saturday between February and December since the dawn of time 🦕 well, now “the Grinch” is trying to steal Christmas from the farmers and set up souvenir stands there instead.

We do like Christmas markets, but we are sure a new one can be set up elsewhere, and not at the expense of local businesses 👩‍🌾

So what to do ⁉️
Stop by the Farmers Market at Naplavka and sign their petition! Let’s defeat “the Grinch” together!

🇨🇿 Grinch se nám snaží zavřít farmařské trhy na Náplavce a místo nich tam chce v prosinci otevřít vánoční trhy 🎄

Vánoční trhy samozřejmě máme rádi, ale pevně věříme že se dá nalézt kompromis a otevřít je někde jinde.

Co s tím můžete udělat ⁉️ Zastavte se na sobotním trhu na Náplavce, dejte si něco dobrého, a podepište petici. Poražme Grinche společně!

Once upon a time, a hidden gem, Prague’s famous sculpture Idiom is now a tourist hotspot!
As soon as the doors of the Municipal library where the sculpture is located open, people form a line (photo #3) to take photos of the “infinity book well” - a new name of the Idiom invented by the TikTok users.

It is rumored that the library will soon be taking measures to regulate the crowds. Do you think they will make it paid to visit Idiom?

• FofrKafe - Soukenda (Soukenická 15) - cozy cafe near Náměstí Republiky, great prices and atmosphere ✨

• Coffee and Riot (Opatovická 159/17) - a hip New Town cafe, great for a little break from terrible weather (hot or cold) ☀️

• I Need Coffee! (Na Moráni 1958) - a cute bar for an urgent coffee pit stop🚨

• Palác knih Luxor (Václavské nám. 820/41) - cafe inside a bookstore is always a godsend! 📚

Prague Castle for Free!

What can you see in without paying an admission fee?

• 2 entrance chapels of the St. Vitus cathedral- a bigger part of the cathedral will require a ticket, but you can still admire this stunning piece of architecture from there.

• Gardens of the Prague castle - Royal Gardens, Southern Gardens and Gardens on the Bastion are free to enter. Bear in mind that Gardens below the Prague Castle have an entrance fee!

• Courtyards of the castle - you can enter Prague castle complex for free and see the exteriors of buildings.

• Deer Moat - this natural fortification is opened to the public. You can enter it from the Novy Svet side, from the Powder Bridge, or from the Old Castle Steps 🦌

• Golden Lane - a quaint street with souvenir stores opens for free after 5 pm in summer season and after 4 pm in winter season. If you make it just on time, you can see the defense corridor and it’s exhibition as well.

5 Things to remember when you visit Prague’s city center ❤️

• You will be walking a lot! Fortunately, even the distance from the Powder Gate to Prague Castle can be covered in 30 min if you’re wearing comfortable shoes🥾

• Exchange your money ahead of time! It is possible to pay in euros in most restaurants and shops in the city center, but you rarely get a good conversion rate this way 💰

• Beware of pickpockets! Just as any big city, Prague is no stranger to this problem, unfortunately. Be especially cautious in crowded places and on public transport🕵️

• Don’t try to see everything in one day! Unless you are here only for one day😅 You will enjoy your Prague visit more if you give each sight and attraction more time ⏰

• Prepare to rub shoulders with a lot of people. Literally! The Czech capital is an extremely popular destination, so you won’t be the only one walking the Charles bridge or visiting Prague Castle. Embrace the crowds, and enjoy your stay ❤️
