So if you’ve been looking for inspiration to add to your travel bucket list, or want to soak up some holiday magic from the comfort of your couch, check out these 14 annual Christmas markets.

1. Leipzig Christmas Market | Germany
Dates: Nov. 28-Dec. 23🎆

Germany is known for its iconic Christmas markets — and the market in Leipzig is one of the biggest and oldest, dating back to 1458. Located about two hours driving distance from Berlin, the Leipzig Christmas Market checks all of the festive boxes: There are about 250 sparkly stalls, a massive Christmas tree, and trombone performances.

In addition to the shops, lights, food, and live music, there’s a candy cane forest and 56-foot-tall Christmas tree. 5. Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Christmas Market | Yokohama, Japan🎎
Dates: Nov. 24-Dec. 25

Inspired by the markets in Germany, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse combines a range of German food with classic decorations, including a Christmas tree and stunning light displays. The sparkly wonderland also features shops and an “Illumination Garden,” designed to make you feel like you’re “spending Christmas with the animals in the forest.

6. International Christmas Market Essen | Essen, Germany🎄
Dates: Nov. 17-Dec. 23

Awarded the 2023 best Christmas market in Germany by European Best Destinations, the International Christmas Market Essen offers all the charm of a German Christmas market with a global twist. The market features over 250 stalls with goods from 20 countries, a twinkly canopy above the main square, a baroque carousel, and light displays.

7. Christmasland | New Taipei City, Taiwan
Dates: Nov. 17-Jan.1🎐

Since 2011, New Taipei City has embraced the holiday season with Christmasland: a celebration filled with classic decorations and food that draws millions of visitors. This year’s festivities include a German Christmas party, an eco-friendly treasure hunt, and caroling, along with pop-up shops and a light-filled concert.

8. Christmas in Tivoli Gardens | Copenhagen, Denmark🎆
Dates: Nov. 19-Dec. 31

Copenhagen is known for a hygge atmosphere year-round, but it gets even cozier and more cheerful during Christmastime. Tivoli Gardens, a 19th century amusement park, gets especially festive with twinkling illuminations, stalls with Christmas goodies, and Danish sweet treats, like gingerbread hearts, pancakes, marzipan, and rice pudding.

As the name suggests, The Good Food & Wine Show Christmas Market brings together artisan food and wine plus an array of curated gifts for a festive-meets-foodie celebration. This year’s lineup features more than 100 small producers and a calendar of events — from gingerbread house-making tutorials to “festive fizz” wine tastings. Cheers!

12. Bergen Christmas Market | Bergen, Norway🎄

Bergen pulls out all the stops for Christmas. The Norwegian city is not only home to the “world’s largest gingerbread town” (Pepperkakebyen), but the Bergen Christmas Market is held right in the heart of the city with delicious treats, handmade gifts, and bright decorations that look like a scene straight from a postcard.

Last time I traveled in October the lines for security check were mile long, people had been standing there for 1-1.5 hours to go through. 🤨

However, there is a better way to get in/out of the airports.

In September, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced its new Global Entry Mobile App.

If you thought using the Global Entry kiosk was quick, this is next-level.

To get the app takes about 30 sec, next download a picture (selfie), when in the customs area submit the info.

After that, you check in with an officer and walk on through to baggage claim. If you haven't checked a bag, you are literally out of the airport in under 10 minutes.

In announcing the app, CBP said: "The new Global Entry mobile application leverages the latest technologies, in order to enhance security while further improving the travel experience for CBP’s trusted travelers.”
Since many travelers can supply their passport info and use kiosks in the regular passport processing lines, I began to wonder if Global Entry was still going to be worth it when I needed to renew in a couple of years. My questions have been answered. This app is a must for frequent international flyers and well worth the Global Entry fee, which also qualifies travelers for TSA Pre-Check.

Royal Caribbean International Icon of the Seas has completed her final sea trials and returned to Meyer Turku, Turku Shipyard.

During the week long sea trials, official tests on noise, vibration, speed, stabilizers, various automation and main engines were completed.

For the next few weeks, she will get her final touches before her hand over and journey to her new home port in Miami.

How cool is this? It’s the balloon festival held every year in St. Louis. It’s called The Great Forest Park Balloon Race.

They have their balloon glow tonight and tomorrow, 50 balloons will rise into the sky and fly across the St. Louis sky.

The goal is to follow the lead balloon who goes first and lays out a big X on the ground. The winner is the balloon that can drop a bean bag as close to the center of the X as possible.

It’s Not a Visa—But U.S. Citizens Will Need to Register and Pay a Fee to Travel to Europe starting 2024.

How will travelers apply for ETIAS and how much will it cost?

Once the ETIAS application is available online, it should only take about 10 minutes to fill out, according to ETIAS.
To apply, you’ll need a valid passport, an email address, and a debit or credit card to pay the nonrefundable 7-euro application fee, which applies to individuals between the ages of 18 and 70.
Those under the age of 18 or over 70 still need to have an ETIAS but will not be charged. There are no other fees associated with the program.

Mark your calendars: The launch of the ETIAS travel authorization is currently slated for November 2023.

A total of four Celebrity Apex sailings are now cancelled for the Edge-class vessel, owing to a change in dry dock schedules that has forced the cruise line to adjust the ship’s deployment plans.
