We from Fairtravel4u promote sustainable tourism for the right kind of tourist, the curious tourist, who wants to learn more about their destination :-)
As Ibiza and Mallorca say no to tourists coming to party, it's becoming increasingly clear that expectations on travellers in the world's most popular destinations are changing.
Flying is getting cleaner and that is good for our planet and for sustainable tourism :-)
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220316-the-epic-attempts-to-power-planes-with-hydrogen
During the Cold War, both the US and USSR researched liquid hydrogen as a way to fuel aircraft. Could this cleaner fuel finally be around the corner?
Sustainable tourism into the rainforest can help protecting the rainforest by offering an alternative income to the local communities...
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-60650415
The world's largest rainforest is fast losing its ability to bounce back from human impacts, researchers say.
It might be better for the environment to fly than to use crypto currency...
I guess it is hard to believe, but the carbon footprint per single bitcoin transaction is something like 669 kilograms of carbon dioxide!
Compared to:
An economy-class return flight from London to New York emits an estimated 670kg of CO2 per passenger, according to the calculator from the UN's civil aviation body, the International Civil Aviation Organization....
https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-60521975
Mining new bitcoins now uses less renewable energy and creates more pollution.
It is very important that we learn to adapt our life- and travel style...
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-60431081
The study will focus heavily on how warming hurts regions as well as cities and coastal communities.
Poverty is bad for the environment, so what if tourism can reduce poverty :-)
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-60262964
As people in Turkey battle a massive rate of inflation could tourism help ease the situation?
2022 Year of the mountains :-)
https://www.fao.org/mountain-partnership/news/news-detail/en/c/1461008/
The Mountain Partnership is a voluntary alliance of partners dedicated to improving the lives and livelihoods of mountain people and protecting mountain environments around the world.
Rhino conservation that helps to maintain peace and provide local communities in India with an alternative income :-)
Local organisations also hope that furure tourism can further improve the economical status of these communities and provide more protection to the rhinos.

How the rhino conservation program in India helps to maintain peace and can be a sustainable business for locals and tourism.
Electric transportation and the need for 'cleaner batteries...
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220105-lithium-batteries-big-unanswered-question
As the world looks to electrify vehicles and store renewable power, one giant challenge looms: what will happen to all the old lithium batteries?
In the end all of us will have to pay a price... That's why it is so important to prepare ourselves and try to limit the damage we've done...
Talking about who is responsible for climate change is a fraught debate – even more so when it comes to who ought to pay for the damage it causes.
In my book Tourism vs Climate Change I already wrote about the many adventages of Algae :-)
https://www.tourismvsclimatechange.org/carbon-offset-programs/
Aircraft currently leave a major footprint on the world's climate, so can the aviation industry hope to reach net zero by the middle of the century?
A good example story about sustainable hiking trails in Norway :-)
The so called Sherpa Stairs in Norway are a great example of hiking trails that are sustainable for everyone involved!
Why 'Net-Zero contamination' doesn't mean the same as "No contamination"...
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20211028-why-not-all-net-zero-emissions-targets-are-equal
Countries, companies and organisations around the world are promising to limit their carbon emissions to net zero by 2050, but how good are their commitments?
They kept this 'news' until after COP26...
Unfortunately this news is only about Brazil. In Ecuador, Peru and especially Bolivia it is just as bad:-( In those countries it often concerns illegal logging by poor people who are trying to survive. Political promises at COP26 don't give these people a living... Tourism could help, more info on my website: https://www.tourismvsclimatechange.org/sustainable-tourist-industry/
The figures come after Brazil promised to end the practice by 2030 during the COP climate summit.
Climate injustice as a result of social inequality. You will not be able to solve this injustice without creating more equality among society.
Tourism can help with creating more understanding, respect and spreading of international wealth.
If you want to learn how this can work, I recommend reading: https://www.tourismvsclimatechange.org/economic-tools/
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20211103-the-countries-calling-for-climate-justice
Some of the world’s poorest and lowest carbon-emitting countries are suffering the most from climate change. Is it time for 'climate justice'?
The COP26 is mostly about promises.
Unfortunately history has shown that with many of these promises are either not kept, or come with lesser known conditions, which strongly reduces the actual effect of these pronises :-(
A better approach is to actually show that actions are being taken and new innovations are being welcomed and explored.
The following webpage explores the adventages of tourism for our planet and its climate:
https://www.tourismvsclimatechange.org/importance-of-tourism/
That tourism is way more than just a leisure activity I'd like to explain with several examples on this page about the importance of tourism
Earlier I wrote about a hostel in a Palestine neighborhood in Israel that helps creating more understanding and respect among different ethnic groups. This story is explains how hiking in Lebanon helps connecting people.
How hiking in Lebanon doesn't only offer a huge variation of sceneries, but also creates more understading and helps uniting people.
How sustainable farming might actually be able to slow down climate change :-)
And we tourists can visit these farms ;-)
https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p0b0mmcf/can-a-transfarmation-save-the-climate-
Agriculture is responsible for 34% of greenhouse gas emissions. There are a number of ways that agriculture can lessen its environmental impact. Some of these ways you might be familiar with, like reducing food waste or using water sparingly. But others might be a little less obvious to consumers, e...
With the start of COP26, this article explores the (commercial) value of nature...
The value of nature isn't just about carbon storage, but about earth's complete natural ecosystems and the people who live within.
Good initiatives in the tourist industry deserve to be shared :-)
The best way to act on climate change? To work together to reduce our collective carbon emissions.

What if the goal of the IPCC is indeed unrealistic?
How much of our comfortable 'Western Lifestyle' are we really willing to sacrifice to slow down climate change?

Two friends growing coral and the country of Costa Rica are among five winners receiving £1m each.
Do you suffer from climate-stress? Are you wondering how to deal with this stress, with climate change and your love for traveling?
Then I can recommend to read our book: Tourism vs Climate Change: https://www.tourismvsclimatechange.org
Climate anxiety is on the rise, so we spoke to climate scientists about what helps them deal with feelings of hopelessness.
How old oil rigs can be converted into coral gardens and a paradise for fish and divers!
Natural coral reefs are in danger, what if we can help nature with the construction of man-made artificial reefs from oil rigs?
Do you want to know how sand, oysters and sea otters can help against rising sea levels and climate change?
Rising sea levels as a result of climate change, are our biggest concern. But there are natural and sustainable ways to protect us.
A great initiative :-)
In Costa Rica a Grassroots scheme called 'Monteverde's Ruta Eléctrica' is now leading the way in making sustainable tourism by electric car more attractive!
With this statement it is important to include the acknowledgement that most of the electricity in Costa Rica comes from renewables, not like in the US and Europe, where most electricity still comes from burning fossil fuels...
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210928-costa-ricas-answer-to-range-anxiety
Thanks to a grassroots scheme, you can now reach a large number of remote tourist spots around the Costa Rican town of Monteverde in an electric vehicle.
