Just a quick update after a journey home to rival Odysseus’s journey to Ithaca…

After we got home to no heating, and had to walk around the house with ni***es like Fonzie’s thumbs, our boiler was thankfully fixed within 48 hours. Unfortunately, Yvette was then struck down with a bug leaving me to deal with a jet lagged Alex and the washing from hell for a couple of days.

We are now back up and running and I am currently working my way through my emails. If you are still waiting on a reply I will get back to you as soon as I can. My apologies for the delay!

To help pass the time why not help us name our new van mascot? This lovely wee bagpipe playing Kiwi bird we found in New Zealand.

Journey Home: The Never ending series of sucker punches 🎬

That is what I would call this trip home if it was made into a movie.

So far we’ve had:

😮‍💨 A 7 hour wait in Houston Airport as we had to check out our AirBNB and had nowhere to store our bags.

😮‍💨 A nine hour flight to Heathrow where another passenger managed to make the whole journey fine and then projectile vomit three times when we were coming in to land. Thankfully we weren’t in the splash zone

😮‍💨 A cancelled flight to Edinburgh but we were lucky enough to get seats on an earlier flight, however we almost missed it as Heathrow is a nightmare. It took us three hours to get from our first flight to our second. At this point in time I would rather baste my ge****ls in rancid pedigree chum and go for a walk naked through the wolf enclosure at the Highland Wildlife Park than have to go through Heathrow again. Service was shocking and people turn into animals. Literally people pushing in front of young families at elevators.

😮‍💨 We boarded our flight to Edinburgh only for it to be delayed due to a technical fault. This was then fixed and then the person who was to disconnect the walkway accidentally crashed it into the plane, delaying us just long enough (90 minutes) for Storm Henk to give us the most turbulent take off I’ve had in a long time.

😮‍💨 We finally make it home! Huzzah! No wait… Oh no! The boiler is broken and it’s -5° outside! Cue hitting the parents up for a warm shower and borrowing an electric heater (thanks parents).

We’re now staying out of the house in warm places until our engineer comes out to have a look this evening. Unfortunately for me this means a day at the shops. Wasn’t planning on having a beer today but then again I’m ruling nothing out…

Of course this has put a delay on me replying to messages and emails but I’ll get there soon hopefully!

Craig

We’re a bit late but happy new year everyone!

We’ve been a bit quiet over the last six weeks as we’ve enjoyed some quality family time in Vancouver, New Zealand, and Texas. Apologies for any delays in getting back to emails and messages. I plan to be back up and working properly on the 3rd of January (once Angus the dug has been picked up).

We’ve now done two hours at Houston Airport with another 6 hours to burn before our 9 hour flight to Heathrow… then our 5 hour layover before we can get our final flight home to Edinburgh. You can see how happy Alex is with all the travel time in this photo 🦖

Have a braw 2024 everyone! My resolution this year is to no longer be “that fat wee bald tour guide” and simply become “that bald wee tour guide” - Craig ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Today I (Craig) decided to go boogy boarding down a massive sand dune/mountain in the pouring rain two hours away from our accommodation because I am a moron. I have sand in places I didn’t know existed and I fear having to hand the rental car back tomorrow as we have transported a small desert back.

Another first for the Webster family today. Yvette was pushing me and Alex on a swing when out the corner of my eye I spotted a seagull stealing my wallet with all my cards, ID and a bit of cash from a bench. Cue the Benny Hill theme song as we chased it down.

Red line = seagull
Yellow line = Yvette
Blue line = me and Alex

Fair play to Y as without hesitation she simply waded through the water to chase it as we sprinted round to head it off at the pass.

Everything retrieved except two new fridge magnets we had bought for back home. Seagull lives to see another day. Flying rat.

Greetings from sunny Auckland, New Zealand. After an arduous journey we’ve finally made it here. Since we broke up the journey in Vancouver, Canada, I can safely say I have no idea what day of the week it is, or what the time is anywhere around the world including here. We may also have time traveled.

Highlights of the journey so far include someone translating for me from English into English due to my accent, and Yvette blowing our food budget in one trip to the supermarket because she missed NZ snacks.

Had to represent with my 1967 replica Scotland national football team top. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We met up with our friend Tom from Photo Walk Scotland 'Explore-Create-Inspire' today for a nice catch up over lunch in Kelso.

Tom helped us majorly when we were starting our adventure as a business and we work together regularly when we can. He is a full time driver guide and offers photography lessons and retreats as part of his services. Plus he has a degree in history!

And yes, I’m trying to get as much use out of my Tom Weir/Christmas tammie as I can before we head to warmer climates 🎅🏻

A very enjoyable tour with a lovely couple to round off our tours in 2023…

Firoz, Shireen and Craig managed to take in a tour at Dalwhinnie Distillery, and travel through Glencoe and Stirlingshire taking in a number of sights. Who needs daylight anyway?

One of our last tours of our first season 🥲

Thank you to Greg, Veronica, Donna, and Mike for joining us today as we took in some of the best of what central Scotland has to offer. And it was dry all day!

Took a little trip down the M8 motorway last night to go and see Queen’s of the Stone Age at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Over breakfast this morning Alex and I decided to try and make a quick Scottish Rock bands playlist. For anyone struggling to find the motivation to clean the oven today, this is for you 😋

And yes, I’m claiming AC/DC. Sorry Australians.

Chuck your recommendations in the comments.

Craig and Alex were invited to Hopetoun House today and enjoyed a tour of the property and gardens. We’re looking forward to having Hopetoun House as part of our Outlander Tour (amongst others) and will be confirming details in the new year.

I’m on dad duties until Monday, so apologies for any delays in answering emails and messages. I really don’t want to upset this wee guy though as it appears he has already taken out Elmo in cold blood.

Introducing the brilliant Daniels brothers!

These cheeky chappies toured with us back in June and it’s safe to say Scotland might have inspired their Halloween costumes this year.

Let’s see your Scotland themed costumes in the comments ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🦄
