This [hidden] gem of a restaurant is always our first stop at the beach! 🍤🦞 ⁣

We even make sure our condo is walking distance to S&S Seafood Market + Kitchen because we know we’re going to frequent it multiple times! 😂 ⁣
⁣
Hands down the best seafood on the beach! It is a to-go only establishment, but it makes for the best lazy night beach dinners!! We typically plant our butts on the sand until sunset, call our order in late afternoon, and absolutely love the fact that we don’t have to fight the crazy traffic to go pick it up! 👏🏼 ⁣
⁣
And guaranteed… they have 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗦𝗠𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗔 𝗗𝗜𝗣 I have 𝘌𝘝𝘌𝘙 had!! 😋

I have super sensitive skin and my fingers peel like crazy, so I’ve had to lay off the pretty gel + dip polish options! 🙅🏻‍♀️ ⁣I was struggling to find the perfect polish combo that would actually last! Swipe to see the Essie combo that I randomly grabbed off the shelf at Walmart. 👀 ⁣

We have always been a fan of Jesse's Restaurant, Magnolia Springs, Al
& while the drive was 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 worth it, we were so excited to know they were opening a location in Fort Morgan!🍴⁣

We always take a drive to Fort Morgan to enjoy the sunset, and this year we ended our family tradition with a trip to Jesse's On The Bay, Fort Morgan, Al! 🌅 ⁣

1. Old Town Mexican Cafe⁣
Best margaritas in Key West. I mean, we didn’t try 𝘢𝘭𝘭 of the margaritas in Key West, but these were definitely tasty! We split a pitcher of their Cadillac Margarita and enjoyed a delicious meal! Probably the best Carne Asada I’ve ever had! 👏🏼 This is a great spot for a quick lunch or to stop by the bar and grab a drink! ⁣

2. First Flight Island Restaurant & Brewery
This is a super cool stop for a quick drink! First Flight is well known for being the birthplace of Pan American World Airways! ✈️ Pan-Am’s first tickets were sold out of the building in 1927. Definitely recommend sticking to a beer here. I ordered a cocktail but had a hard time enjoying it. Randall had a beer and we took a little walk through the building. ⁣

3. Sunset Pier ~ Key West⁣
Sunset Pier deserves a post of its own, and will probably get one! 👏🏼 Hands down our favorite spot we visited while in Key West. I tried a few different cocktails and Randall sampled some of their beer selections. The classic margarita and piña colada were so good! We watched the sunset every evening from this spot and enjoyed listening to local musicians! Just stay tuned for a post all about Sunset Pier. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⁣

Honorable mention: The Bloody Mary at Blue Heaven was wonderful! But I did regret not getting a giant mimosa. So if you go, try one for me!

Cafe DuPont did not disappoint for our 2nd Anniversary dinner! ⁣

I’ve never been so torn on what was better… the food or the experience. While there were work dinners and date nights going on all around us, the ambiance was so perfect it seemed as if we were the only ones in the room. ⁣
⁣
We started the meal off with a complimentary glass of bubbly and homemade bread and butter, and let me tell you… that butter was like a cup of heaven! For starters, we had their infamous charcuterie board filled with different meats from their menu, and perfectly toasted crostinis. ⁣
⁣
For our main courses, I had the Grilled Smoked Ribeye and Randall had Grilled Gulf Red Snapper. Both were absolutely divine! We did dessert like always, and let our wonderful waiter, Bishop, choose for us. He surprised us with their newest addition to the menu, Sticky Toffee Pudding. Our meal ended with the best little chocolates I have ever had! 👏🏼 ⁣
⁣
But let me tell you about the experience… our waiter, Bishop, was by far the best! To put it in Randall’s words… “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯!” 😂 He knew their menu so well and in just a few words had you drooling over the selections! We will definitely request him for our next reservation. ⁣
⁣
We have found our new favorite spot in downtown Birmingham! Highly recommend you give it a try for your next night out. You won’t be disappointed! ⁣

This beautiful resort gets 5-stars from The Savvy Suitcase! We stayed here the first half of the week and we were not disappointed. We stayed in a king suite that was equipped with a small kitchen, living room, and balcony! The bed was so comfy and the bathroom was spa worthy! ⁣
⁣
I enjoyed a late breakfast three mornings while Randall was in meetings. The pancakes may have been the best I’ve ever had! 😋⁣
⁣
We even got up early one morning and watched the sunrise with some of our friends! We’ve never done this before so it was a sweet moment, and probably the most beautiful sunrise ever! They also have a small 9-hole Par 3 course if you’re into golf… or even if you’re not into golf, you can follow my lead and commentate! ⛳️

This is me on a daily basis…⁣⁣But it’s way worse when I’m trying to tell you about my vacation! 🙃😂

Our visit at Buffalo Trace deserves a post of its own… ✨ ⁣

Randall is a huge Blanton’s fan, so of course we had to make a stop at Buffalo Trace! We took a tour of the distillery and even got to see where Blanton’s is bottled and packaged. Such a cool experience! 👏🏼 🌟 ⁣
⁣
They had a very interesting display of what the bourbon looks like going into the barrel and while it ages! We even tried a sample of Wheatley Vodka, and even though neither of us prefer vodka, it was pretty smooth. ⁣

But I must admit, we left with two bottles of Bourbon Cream! 👌🏼😋 Buffalo Trace Distillery

Well, y’all… We’ve been living the good life the last couple weeks spending time with family and friends, and I realized it’s been a hot minute since I posted about our trip down the ! 🥃🙃 ⁣

So, let’s take a minute to talk about more about our bourbon journey! ⁣
⁣
After visiting Maker’s Mark, we stopped by The Stave for lunch! OMG! The food was incredible, and we shared “Our Neighbors” Bourbon Flight! This flight consisted of four different bourbons from distilleries that neighbor the restaurant. ⁣
⁣
- Castle & Key Restoration Rye (We made a pit stop here just to check the place out! I’ll share some photos below!) ⁣
- Glenn’s Creek OCD #5⁣
- Old Crow⁣
- Woodford Reserve⁣
⁣
I had the Fried Green Tomato Pimento Grilled Cheese and Randall had the Smoked Bologna Sandwich! Y’all… that hunk of bologna was huge (and delicious!) We both spotted a plate pass by with cheese grits that looked heavenly, so we both settled on those for our side! 😋⁣
⁣
We were way too full for dessert, but we caught a glimpse of what they had to offer and both regretted that we were too full! ⁣
⁣
Even though this place doesn’t look like much, it’s definitely recommended to have a reservation! We lucked up and only waited about 20 minutes! We highly recommend grabbing lunch or dinner at this little spot!

This was one of the most impressive stops in my opinion. We participated in The Maker’s Mark Tour where we toured the distillery, walked the production line, and concluded with a tasting! Our tour guide, Michelle, was fantastic! 👏🏼 ⁣
⁣
The grounds at this distillery were so well kept and absolutely beautiful! They also have a gorgeous bar at their main building, so even if you can’t get in for a tour, you definitely should stop by for a drink! ⁣
⁣
Of course, if you’re a bourbon fan at all, I’m sure you know about the famous red wax dipped bottles… Well, if you purchase a bottle of bourbon at Maker’s, you get to dip your own bottle! Such a neat experience! We also got to snag a Maker’s Label from the printing shop on site! ✨ ⁣

This stop was really a little sentimental for us since we shared an Elijah Craig 𝘚𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 bourbon toast at our wedding! 📸 flashback photo at the end! 😉

We participated in the Magic of the Mashbill Tasting and tasted 5 different Heaven Hill distilled bourbons! We even got to do a little toast with our wedding bourbon! 🤍 ⁣

You can take part in the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience at their Louisville location, or the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience at their Bardstown location. They also had a phenomenal selection of available bourbons in their gift shop! ⁣

The Rose Hill Inn definitely gets 5-stars from us! It’s located in the quaint little town of Versailles, KY, and was the perfect resting spot while we visited differently bourbon distilleries in the area. ⁣
⁣
We actually stayed in the cottage located behind the main house and it was so cozy! It definitely gives the feel of being out in the country, while only being a short walk from downtown! ⁣
⁣
Rachel, the inn manager (and daughter of the owner!), was so friendly, and fixed the best breakfasts for us each morning! She also had some great restaurant recommendations for us. Definitely couldn’t have asked for a better host! 💕
⁣
If you’re planning a trip to Kentucky, I highly recommend making the Rose Hill Inn your stay of choice! 🌹
