We where lucky enough to get a picture of this ‘61 Lonestar belonging to the Rice family as they stopped by this weekend. This boat has been in the same family for 5 generations and has been on DHL since it was purchased new.

One morning a husband returns to the cabin after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out, since it is such a beautiful day. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book.

Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says," Good morning, Ma'am, what are you doing"?

"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious"?)

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her.

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. I'll have to write you up a ticket."

"For reading a book"? she replies.

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her again.

"But officer, I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to write you up a ticket and you'll have to pay a fine."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the Game Warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he immediately departed.

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.
Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece!

Today I turned 51 years old. My 93 year old Dad and I went fishing. As I cast my line and looked over to my Dad fishing I realized the moment I was in.

No cell phones ringing, text alerts, emails, nothing but the sound of my Dad and his old fishing stories of us.

I saw a young father coming up with his 5 year old son... loaded down with fishing rods, worms and bobbers. It was Dad and I, 46 years ago.

He looked at me, as I looked at him, realizing what I was seeing, he smiled at me and continued to the dock, young Samuel in tow with his own fishing rod and mini tackle box.

I quietly wept. As our morning was ending and the worms almost gone, a bucket full of brim and 1 more story to tell, Dad looked at me as I had once looked at him and asked me.. “Just one more time to bait the hook??”

Behind a lowered cap brim, and teary eyes I responded “ sure Dad, as many more times as you want”.

I realized how blessed I was to have my Dad, and was already looking forward to the next fishing trip. My perfect birthday gift to me.

This picture was taken across the water from Wolf Creek Marina right about sunset. The water was considerably higher when this picture was taken than it is now.

Spring Creek Hollow is located within five miles of Wolf River Marina (by land). They have most everything you need for fun on the water as far as rentals are concerned, whether you're looking for a pontoon, a jet ski of something in between, they should be able to fix you up.

If you'd like to spend a weekend getting away and back to mother nature please give us a call, maybe we can accommodate you.

Don't have a boat? Don't care for renting a boat or jet ski from the local marina here at spring creek? Maybe that's not your idea of relaxing?

Not to worry, Spring Creek here on Dale Hollow is within walking distance from our cabin and is very fishable from the bank or with waders as the point of entry here is very wadeable. There's also a spot on the Cumberland River that's about a 30 minute drive from the cabin and is accessible to fishermen who like to wade fish for trout. Pictured below is a good friend of ours landing a nice trout in the same spot on the river a couple of years ago.

Even though we're located within five miles of Wolf River Marina, this photograph shows a nice sunset view of Sunset Marina.

Regardless of where you're located, sunrise's and sunsets on Dale Hollow Lake are some of the most beautiful the state of Kentucky has to offer.
