One of the things that greeted us in Egypt was a beautiful owl perched on top of Kalabsha Temple. When I got home a Tawny Frogmouth Owl was sitting in front of the gates to my driveway. I had to get out of the car to make it move.
I also remember my mother telling me the story of a White Owl that landed on my pram when I was 6 months old. She and my aunt were out walking near the woods when the owl swooped down and landed on my pram. Turns out both ladies were scared of owls, they left me there with it and ran back to the house to get my father. Apparently the white owl was still with me when they got back.

Egypt is fascinating, but of course, nothing can beat the Private Access in the Great Pyramid, that is almost literally, "out of this world". The God Anubis pours sacred water over Pennut, cleansing him for his journey through the afterlife to Osiris.
Pennut was the High Priest of Horus and governor of an area now covered by lake Nasser in Upper Egypt. His tomb is small, but interesting, as are all the sites around the lake and often have scenes in them that are to be found nowhere else.

Wadi El Seboua on Lake Nasser, the entrance to the temple built by Ramses the Great. One of the spectacular locations around the edge of the lake. These temples are not huge, but they are no less special, and one of the best things about them is that most tourists do not go this far into Upper Egypt, so we can get a sense of how peaceful these places were. No traffic, no phones, no wifi, just the silence of the desert, the scent of the sand and rocks heated by the sun and the coolness of the clear waters. This is good for the heart, mind and soul and a great way to start the tours.

The strongest moments are those when it is neither one thing or the other, when it is neither the darkness of night nor the brightness of day. It is in these moments that the priest/priestess/shaman can slip between the worlds.
