Our favorite apple orchard! September is booked. However, there are still a few October nights available at The Creek House! 🍎🍁🌄

"We need a bigger shed!" The ripe apples are coming in quicker than weeds on a summer lawn. We got music; we got U-Pick; we got monarchs, games, exhibits . . . not to mention, but I will even though we had nothing to do with them . . . sunshine, warm (relatively speaking) temps, and those spectacular mountain views. #

Hey Everyone! We just want to thank all of you who have stayed at The Creek House or shown an interest in it over the past few months. Our family has loved being able to share this special place with your family!

In July, we decided to list the cabin on Airbnb. Since then, we have been pleasantly surprised with how organized and effective that site is allowing us to fill available slots month after month. For this reason, we have decided to no longer book the cabin on our own but instead rely on Airbnb for this. This change will go into effect at the end of September.

Why wait? Because we are so grateful to everyone who has supported this little page, we want to give anyone who has been considering renting The Creek House a chance to do so without having to pay the extra Airbnb fees/taxes.

So if you would like to book privately through this page before the end of this month, follow the link to see what is available and if there is a weekend or a week that you would like to spend in the mountains, head back over to this page and send us a PM and we will get you taken care of!

This awesome tubing place is just 14 miles down the road from us!! If you would like to get outside and enjoy the winter sports of the High Country this winter season, The Creek House is conveniently located within a 30 min drive to not only Jonas Ridge but also Hawknest snow tubing, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, and Beech Mountain (sking, ice skating, sledding). This article includes so many great places to explore including Sugar Plum Farm in Plumtree. It is our favorite "choose and cut" place to get our Christmas tree every November. I realize it is only September but winter will be here before we know it. The High Country does not hibernate when winter comes! In fact, it is a popular destination due to the many winter sports and activities throughout the area. So make sure to book early if you are planning a winter trip to the mountains this year! A peek at the renovation! The new bathroom is still in need of some finishing work like drywall on a couple of walls, paint, and a mirror over the sink. But...there is a sink that works! There is a toilet that works!! And...best of all, there is a clawfoot tub that works!!! Now to get the brand new stack washer/dryer unit working so we can get the old washer out the door. Home renovations in the time of Corona Virus are quite the misadventure.

I am not sure there is anything more beautiful than a mountain lake. Watauga Lake is only 28 miles from The Creek House. Pack lunch and rent a pontoon boat for the day at Lakeshore Marina. https://www.lakeshore-resort.com/ Can you imagine how breathtaking this lake is with the Fall colors? EMERALD VILLAGE GEMSTONE MINE OPENS! Emerald Village in Little Switzerland, NC opened the Gemstone Mine today, and will be open daily from 10 till 5. Also open is the gold panning, the outdoor picnic area, the Junction Gift Shop, and mineral/gem collecting on the McKinney Mine/Crabtree Emerald Mine dumps. Face Masks & Social Distancing are required. Museums and Mine Tours remain closed at this time. See you at the area's original gem mine!
