The fall colors have peaked in the areas surrounding our mountainside - and this years colors have not disappointed! The whole yard of our little cabin seems to just ✨glow✨this time of year. We still have some November days open for those of you looking to escape pre-holiday season! And if you’re extra lucky you’ll still have a touch of fall color!
Did you see our front bedroom update? Believe it or not, this is the bigger room of our two bedrooms in our small and cozy little cabin! Now that we’ve ditched a bed with a footboard and side rails, we’ve gained precious space in here!! A simple update that was a ✨major✨upgrade!

We will be opening our spring and summer dates very soon, and those on our email list will be the first to know when the calendar opens. Weekends go quickly, and we start with a 3 night minimum for peak seasons and adjust the minimum as dates fill up. Outdoor dining season is officially here, and it’s most definitely the best time of the year 🖤
What’s your favorite part of warm weather seasons at a cabin in the mountains?
For us it’s spending ALL our time relaxing out here - meals at the table, cocktails at the sofa, afternoon naps, or relaxing late at night… stargazing from the hot tub…we are ready for it all
We’ve spent our long Easter weekend doing lots and lots of springtime maintenance here at the cabin. While we love cozying up here for stays in the winter - the warm weather days are where it’s at. But honestly… each new incoming season is always our favorite season!
We’ve spread over 60 bags of mulch, unloaded fresh gravel for the driveway, freshened up the hardscape paths & firepit, washed all the windows, added a few more plants (hopefully those spring cold snaps and snow are gone), and in less exciting news even had our septic tank pumped 🙃
We can’t wait to welcome our springtime guests, and can’t wait to be back up again ourselves next month!

It’s been quite a long minute since we’ve shared anything here, it can be hard to find time for Instagram sometimes between life, work, wedding planning, side projects, and hosting two airbnbs! But, we’re here now and thought we’d let anyone new know a bit more about this cabin your following
⚡️It was built in 1965, and was part of a set of kit cabins used by contractors in our area to live in while they built a lot of the other homes in Seven Devils
⚡️576 square feet - it’s SMALL! Although we think that’s what adds to its charm and coziness, and it seems most of our guests agree
⚡️We have a breathtaking view of Grandfather Mountain (some days it still stops us in our tracks when the light hits it in a new way or the clouds are doing something crazy)
⚡️2 bedrooms, 1 bath
⚡️Fully updated and remodeled kitchen (everything you need, nothing you don’t)
⚡️Fully remodeled bathroom (it’s a small bathroom, but all that you need for a quick getaway)
⚡️Hidden washer and dryer (lots of hiking and exploring means you might have to do laundry, even on vacation!)
⚡️Electric Fireplace (the previous owner filled the chimney in with rocks, and after years of neglect it became unusable anyways - BUT we scrubbed and scrubbed and cleaned up the beautiful original stone.
⚡️An 18’ x 24’ deck (not included in the sq footage) that we added on so that you can spend ALL your time outdoors enjoying the beautiful North Carolina mountain views.)
⚡️Five areas outside to sit and enjoy the outdoors and soak in the view. (Six if you count the hot tub!)
⚡️Perfect for two, and spacious enough for 4 (especially comfortable for 4 when the weather is nice)
⚡️Perfectly placed between all the areas you’re likely planning to visit, and far enough away to feel far away from it all!

We go out of our way to add little touches here and there to make your stay a little more special, and the thing we are asked MOST often about by guests are our room sprays!
We’ve chosen a different scent for each room - a “rosewood” scent and “lavender cedar”, my favorite is the rosewood. Don’t tell…but I’ve been known to spray it on my clothes in a pinch for a freshen up 🤫

There’s a ❄️great big❄️ snowstorm heading out way, our incoming guests are in for a winter wonderland this weekend! How many inches do you guys think we will see in the high country?! Over here, we are setting our sights high and betting on 12”!
For the first time, in a long long time, we’ve come to the cabin for our own weekend away that isn’t full of a to do list a mile long, and were lucky enough to catch a beautiful sunrise this morning ☀️ we hope you are ending this year on a peaceful note too!

We are so happy to have been a bright spot in so many holiday memories this year, and it’s just as fun for us to welcome you! This season has flown by at record speed - we added fresh garland to the front door of our tiny cabin this year, and wouldn’t you know we only took one photo, in the dark!

Every season, we say the new season is our favorite at the cabin - but we think that’s great because there is something special that we love about it all year long. We just had a winter weekend cancellation, so if your looking for some beautiful winter sunsets like this, are crossing your fingers hoping to see some snow this year, or just know you’ll need some time away after the hustle and bustle of the holidays - we’ve got ya covered.
A few of our favorite wintertime things?

〰 we have a few hikes that are our top winter picks, so ask us when you stay with us!
〰 cozying up at , , or for some beers or a glass of wine after a winter hike
〰 grabbing a seat by the fire for a glass of wine, or beer + a helping (maybe two) of their to die for cheese curds!!
〰 Lunch or dinner (ask about the pork rinds!)
〰 shopping at in downtown Boone, putting that Christmas gift money to good use 😉
〰 a visit to for amazing wintertime views
〰 doing absolutely nothing, followed by a dip in the hot tub, and then maybe even a nap 😴

✨Cozy season is at last here✨
More time hanging out at the cabin this time of year means more time spent hanging out inside, playing games, and hopefully drinking your favorite thing to warm you up. We’ve got a bit of a woodland critter theme for the ornaments on our tree - so as soon as we saw this “wild and crazy” farm animals puzzle we knew they had to be added to the mix for holidays at the cabin.
Our holiday weekend was busy busy deep cleaning and decorating, so we will have to save this puzzle for when we visit later this month. Dearest December guests… don’t lose any pieces!!!! 🙏🏻🤞🏼
PS, Who’s your favorite on this puzzle? For me, it’s the goose - or maybe the goat.. or maybe it’s the cat riding on the horse…

We are grateful each and every day for all of our amazing guests, and the opportunities we’ve had to host so many people in our cabin. We are so lucky to have had so many guests who have come to feel like friends.
We are also so, so very lucky and so thankful to have made so many friends here who are hosts or members of our local community - many of which over this past year have become friends in REAL life, and that’s just something we are so lucky to have and we are forever grateful for these special friendships.

☀️winter sunrise views are coming ☀️
Are you an early riser? Me either. But up here, we promise you - a good winter sunrise view from the hot tub just really cannot be beat. It’s 💯 worth waking up early.
We love our cabin in every season, but at the tail end of each season we always find ourselves very ready for the next. So while we are sad to see the leaves go (but not sad to see leaf maintenance go… there are still lots of leaves flying around) we are always excited when our views open up.
This photo is from late October last year at the cabin, but ask any of our guests in the last two weeks how the fall color has been…and it’s been even more colorful than this! Not quite sure how our super late October and early November guests got 🍂so🍂 lucky this year - but the leaves and colors surrounding the cabin on our mountain are really sticking around for the long haul.
🍁🍂🖤We’d go as far as to say the current and past week has been peak week at least on our side of the mountain🖤🍂🍁

It’s that time of year when the best way to spend a chilly afternoon is around the fire sipping something yummy and doing absolutely nothing.

Ever since we added shaped ice cube trays to the freezer in the cabin we’ve been on a whiskey kick! It’s definitely the ice cubes that make it feel extra special.

There’s just something so comforting about October🍂🍁🌾
Is it the colors? The cooler temperatures? Cozy sweaters? Comfy socks? Fluffy blankets? Drinks to warm you up? All the best things….and we might be biased but we think this cabin is a pretty perfect place for enjoying all these things 😉

🌲 ⛰ View from atop MacRae Peak on Grandfather Mountain ⛰ 🌲 . The 64th Grandfather Mountain Highland Games were all set to kick off tomorrow, but they’ve been cancelled this year - SO the countdown begins to next years games! . If you’re unfamiliar, the Highland Games is a 4 day Scottish festival and gathering of clans held each year in MacRae Meadows at the foot of Grandfather Mountain - the largest gathering of clans in the world actually. A weekend filled with dancing, music, bagpipes, drums, caber tossing competitions, “The Bear” race for runners to the top of Grandfather mountain along with a marathon, and lots tartan plaids and plenty of good times. It’s not to be missed. They will be streaming past and live performances over the weekend on their FB and YouTube channels - so tune in and check it out!
