Kooyonga Golf Club, is a wonderful example of a championship golf course in undulating sand hills just 15 minutes from the central business district of Adelaide. Kooyonga has been the venue for many international and interstate championships and has always enjoyed a high ranking amongst private clubs in Australia.

The Melbourne Sandbelt is a region to the southeast of Melbourne, Australia, known for its sandy soil. Several significant golf courses are located in the region.

Sandy soil is particularly suitable for golf courses. It is easy to place bunkers wherever a course designer chooses, without the need to carry in sand from another location, and it is easy to ensure appropriate drainage. A feature of several Melbourne Sandbelt courses is that bunkers are cut right on the edge of a green, which is not possible in other courses with different soil types.

There are several major championship courses in the Melbourne Sandbelt which are regularly listed among the world's best. Notable courses include Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Victoria Golf Club, Kingston Heath Golf Club, Huntingdale Golf Club, and Metropolitan Golf Club. Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath both feature in the GolfWeek top 20 courses in the world.

Founded in 1893 The Royal Sydney Golf Club located in Rose Bay on Sydney Harbour is one of Australia’s foremost sporting and social clubs.

The facilities comprise a world-class 18 hole Championship Course, home of the 2016 Emirates Australian Open, a 9 hole Centenary golf course, two golf practice areas, an indoor golf studio, 18 tennis courts, two bowling greens, two croquet lawns, two squash courts, a Fitness Centre as well as an elegant Clubhouse.

Royal Sydney was one of the earliest golf clubs founded in Australia, in 1897, Queen Victoria granted the Club its ‘Royal’ prefix. Tennis, billiards and croquet have been played since 1905 and bowls was introduced in 1929. The current Clubhouse was built in 1922 and, in 2003, was extensively renovated. In 2011, a state of the art Fitness Centre was built.
