Inspired
I’ve always been on the move. Running from, or toward some goal. My entire life is mobile. Knowing how to travel well is the end result of many lessons. This page is more than how to simply score an upgrade, which credit card to use when booking a ticket, or how to play obscure games with fare codes. (though admittedly, we’ll touch on all those things) This site is for those of us who realize that home is wherever we are, that work life integration (vs. balance) creates opportunities, and that how we get to a destination is just a stepping stone toward a new adventure.
I currently work for a Fortune 50 company at the mid to senior level. Most of my travel is in service of the company goals. I’ll often work very long hours on mission, however; often I’ll have considerable downtime. Half a day to kill, or a weekend in a foreign country - life still happens. I talk to my wife and kids - have to find food to eat and friends to hang out with. Stuff has to happen - bills paid, groceries purchased, the basics. Thousands of details and adaptations need to be made - those will be documented in detail.
So why start a page - why now? What’s the point? Two reasons really - one is to give my wife and kids a clear view on what dad does in his day to day. Second is to help those who suddenly find themselves having to play a Global Citizen role and adapt. Burnout, jet lag, travel fatigue - it’s all out there and completely avoidable if you play the game like a pro. It becomes fun - and a typhoon scrambling your flight schedule is just another opportunity to make the trip more interesting.
Why ExecutiveBo - it’s an tip of the hat to the hobos of old who caught freight train rides from job to job - which is essentially what I’m doing 100 years later. Hobos had a code, a language, sets of symbols that likely didn’t mean anything to most people but were significant sources of information to other Bo’s. Welcome aboard!
