A poignant trip to see The Knife Angel at the Royal Armouries in Leeds today.

Also known as the National Monument Against Violence & Aggression, The Knife Angel is a 20ft tall sculpture created entirely from 100,000 seized blades. Some of the blades which can be seen on the Angel’s wings have been engraved with messages of hope, love and disbelief, by the families of victims.

The Angel was designed to raise awareness of how knife crime effects our communities and acts as a memorial to the victims of knife crime.

It’s certainly thought provoking and worth the visit as it moves up and down the country.

Just telling a friend about when I went travelling around India and I was only in the country a week, when I made friends and ended up invited to an Indian wedding. 😝

24 hours later I was whisked to a tailor and had a wedding outfit made to measure 🤪

A few weeks ago I got a phone call on a Sunday, from a client needing to arrange emergency flights and visas to visit Australia.

I never answer my phone or work on Sundays as a rule, unless it’s an absolute emergency, as it’s the only day I get to spend doing whatever I want with the dogs.

Anyone who owns their own business will know, that you have to be strict with yourself otherwise you could work 24/7 especially when it’s something your passionate about.

However, there was an unfortunate reason behind the emergency flights and I really wanted to help.

I picked up the laptop and started working on it straight away.

Booking long haul flights at the last minute is expensive, so I searched every route possible to try and get the best flights available for them.

When booking long haul flights you need to take into consideration any transiting countries and there specific entry requirements. Many of the flights available were transiting through Countries where a visa was required upon entry and at such short notice applying for some visas was just not possible. Ideally they needed to fly via a country that had no visa requirements for UK passport holders transmitting through, or to a country that could process a visa quickly.

Being equipped with an extensive knowledge of flight plans and destination entry requirements, I knew that one of the best routes to take was to fly via Abu Dhabi as no visa was required and they would only need a visa for entry into Australia.

I found them flights via Abu Dhabi and held the price for them whilst we applied for their Australian visas, which were approved and returned within the hour.

They flew off to Australia and have since returned.

When I got home tonight they have left this lovely bottle of Prosecco on my doorstep to say Thankyou.

They didn’t have to do this as they’ve paid for my services already, so I’m extremely grateful to have received this little surprise.

It’s nice to know when you are appreciated isn’t it, it’s brightened up my day. Thankyou.

10 years ago today, this little tear away ran out in front of my car at night when it was pouring it down with rain.

At only 12 months old with no microchip and nobody wanting to claim her,it became clear that she was a stray.

She was so skinny, you could see every rib and her claws were so long it looked like she had never been walked. She smelt terrible and had an ear infection in both of her ears.

The vets said it looked like she had been kicked or punched in the mouth, as she had a half a tooth missing and a big hole in the side of her mouth.

After 4/5 baths a trip to the vets and groomers, she settled in well and she’s been by my side ever since.

Some may say I rescued her, but the truth is she’s rescued me. She’s been at my side throughout some of the darkest times in my life.

She is the most loving and loyal dog and I honestly can’t imagine life without her, although I know that sadly that time will come.

I classed the day I found her as her first birthday so today we are celebrating her 10th Birthday !!!!

People always ask me where is the best place to stay in Santorini ?

The truth is each part of the island offers something truly different. I’ve created a short video of Fira, Oia and Kamari so you can see the differences between the three locations.

Starting with Fira ….

Fira is Santorini's capital and the biggest, busiest and most cosmopolitan city on the island.

Located on the west side of the island it is famous for its caldera view of the volcano and the two volcanic islands, Palaia Kammeni and Nea Kammeni.

It has a great combination of natural beauty, plenty of restaurants, bars, nightlife museums,boutiques and shops.

An abundance of accommodation options can be found in Fira from luxurious hotels and suites with an outstanding caldera view, to a camping area for an alternative stay that will satisfy nature lovers.

If you are visiting Santorini, Fira is definitely worth a visit even if it’s just for the day.

It’s not been quite the end to 2022 that my family and I had hoped for, however there’s still been some positives to take out of 2022 and things I’m grateful for……

✈️ I travelled to 3 new countries off of my bucket list

🌎 Got to visit 2 of wonders of the world the Pyramids in Egypt & Petra in Jordan

🏊🏼‍♀️ Swam in the Dead Sea

⛺️ Camped in the desert

🌠 Slept under the stars

🌅 Witnessed the most incredible sunrises and sunsets

🍽️ Tried new foods

🤩 Met the most amazing people and made new friends

💪🏻 Pushed my business to another level and had the pleasure of working with some amazing clients planning their dream trips.

💫 Made memories that will last a lifetime with family & friends.

However the thing I’m most grateful for this year is having my father and loved ones still here with me at the end of 2022. My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones this year.

We’ve had quite a scare and it’s made me realise how important it is to spend as much time as you can with those you love, because that old saying is so true you never quite know what’s around the corner. 🫂💓

Approx 100 m North East of the Temple of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel is the Temple of Queen Nefertari and Hathor also known as the Small Temple.

Although it is smaller than the Temple of Ramesses II it’s equally as beautiful.

The entrance to the Temple has 6 statues approx 35 ft high of the King and Queen. The statues are of equal size, which is quite unique as there are very few pieces of Egyptian art where the statues of the King and the Queen are of equal size.

Inside the Temple is the great hall supported by six pillars decorated with images of the Queen and bearing the face of the Goddess Hathor.

The hall is then followed by a vestibule access to which is given by three large doors.

On the back wall there is a sanctuary decorated with images and a niche in which Hathor, as a divine cow, appears to be coming out of the mountain.

The goddess is depicted as the Mistress of the temple dedicated to her and Queen Nefertari.

Both Temples are equally as beautiful as the other and not to be missed whilst in Egypt !

Abu Simbel Temple of King Ramesses II 🇪🇬❤️

Abu Simbel is a UNESCO historic site that consists of two temples carved out of the rock cliffs more than 3,000 years ago approx 13th century B.C, during the reign of King Rameses II. 👑

This is the largest of the two temples dedicated to King Ramses II and the smallest one is dedicated to his wife Queen Nefertari and Hathor the Ancient Egyptian Goddess.

The Great Temple of Ramses II was also dedicated to the sun gods Amon-Re, Ptah and Re-Horakhte. 🌞

Archaeologists believe that the Egyptian architects were specific about the axis of the temple. It is aligned with the solar system to ensure that light from the sun goes through the temple only twice a year during the planting and flooding seasons. These two seasons are also said to represent the birth and coronation of King Rameses II🌅

Inside the temple there is a sanctuary with
four rock-cut sculptures of Ra-Horakhty, King Ramesses and the gods Amun Ra and Ptah.

Architects aligned the temple so that on October 22 and February 22, the sun’s rays enter into the sanctuary to illuminate the sculptures on the wall except for the statue of Ptah, the god associated with darkness and the underworld, which remains in shadow. 🌒

Insane Fact - Between 1964 - 1968 the temple was relocated due to flooding.

It is one of the most grandest and beautiful temples in Egypt and the second-largest man-made tourist attraction site in Egypt. The first one being the Pyramids of Giza.💓

Sunsets in Oia are up there with the best I have ever seen.Equally as beautiful as the sunsets in Fira, however both are very different.
