Upskilling for sustainability...

What an exciting start to the Incite academy course "Sustainability Management in Business". Precisely because the topic is becoming increasingly complex, I realize how passionate I am about sustainability, also on the corresponding city tours through Vienna with my corporate customers. In the past, sustainability reports often consisted mainly of pretty pictures, but now a revolution is underway. ESRS, taxonomy or the Green Claims Directive - the future is all about clarity and transparency! Companies that push aside their fears have the opportunity to discover the great potential of sustainability. For the meaningfulness of their own business activities, but also with a view to making an effective contribution to the development of society as a whole!

The course continues in April and I'm already looking forward to it! 😃

Soirée Expat of the CCFA

It is a great tradition of the French-Austrian Chamber of Commerce to welcome the new francophone expatriates in Vienna every year, like yesterday together with the in the premises of the Expat Center. That's probably what the seagull thought, positioning itself in front of an impressive background on the Danube Canal! By the way, the Danube Canal was one of the first places in Vienna with opportunities for legal graffiti. Today it resembles an open air museum where you can admire the whole diversity of the scene. Or seagulls. 😉

Sure, with Vienna one associates rather coffee like tea. But tea also has a long tradition, exclusive tea parties were already a popular Sunday program in Vienna in the 18th century! The store .at next to the State Opera in Vienna can look back on a particularly long tradition. Whereby one should actually say: the State Opera next to the tea store, because the latter was already 7 years before the completion of the State Opera! 😉
Today, Jäger Tee also sees itself as a seller of time: both in view of its long experience and understood as the slowdown that enjoyable tea drinking offers. And so Sting's song line becomes almost a statement in our stressful times: “I don't drink coffee, I take tea, my dear”

Is it a dream or reality? Palm trees, fish and a laid coffee table - all made of glass! The glass museum in the Kuchlerhaus in Weigelsdorf, Lower Austria gives a fascinating insight into the world of glass. Already the facade, Europe's largest glass mosaic leaves one amazed. And those who prefer to be active can become a glassblower themselves in special courses and learn that this art is teamwork in perfection!

Experience wind power up close!

The use of wind power as an alternative energy source has been gaining in importance worldwide for years. In Austria, too, wind turbines already covered the electricity consumption of around 2.5 million households in 2021, as reported by . But how does a wind turbine work? There are only 8 wind turbines with viewing platforms worldwide where you can get very close to the technology. One of them is located in Lichtenegg in Lower Austria. And as if the breathtaking view from the wind turbine wasn't reason enough to visit, the operators of Bucklige Welt Wind also offer special full moon tours, the next one on September 10! Where the foundation stone for the University of Vienna was laid 650 years ago, the new campus academy of the .at has recently opened its doors. Not only scientists are to work here. Shhhh! Insider tip for weekend hikes! 🥾⛰️

Just 1 hour drive from Vienna is the Hundsheim hill, a wonderful destination for a relaxing Sunday hike. And from the summit at 480m you can see them all, all the celebrities spread out in front of you: Lake Neusiedl, Carnuntum, Vienna, Danube, Hainburg and Bratislava. And the eagle-eyed among us can even make out the Schneeberg. So much prominence can only be digested with an ice cream or good wine. Both are available around the mountain, for example in Hundsheim or Hainburg! But shhhh, don't tell anyone! 😎😉

Enjoyment for all senses! 🍷🧀

Actually, everything is ready so far. The stands are up, the refrigerators for the drinks are ready and also the ducks on the pond have already dressed up. So the Genussfestival in Vienna's Stadtpark can start tomorrow!! Austrian delicacies, nice people and all this in one of the most beautiful parks in Vienna. Can there be anything more beautiful for the coming weekend? 😁😎

Fashion, Force and Fantasy - Iron Men in Vienna

Consisting of up to 200 individual parts, weighing almost 30 kg - and yet armor was surprisingly flexible. Also in terms of design: in gold, in blue, for children and the corpulent, following the example of Caesar or Alexander the Great! Only weak point: they were incredibly expensive. But as long as you do not want to buy one, it is worth diving into the new special exhibition of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna! What is your favorite armor? 😎

More illusion than reality?

He already had a zoo, an exotic orangery and a huge park to impress his visitors. But as if that were not enough, Prince Eugen wanted to give his guests at Belvedere Palace the illusion of entering a water castle. Is it really all just an illusion? A medieval birthday gift 🎁

Yesterday I was given away to my great joy! Better said an exciting medieval walking tour with me through Vienna. 😁😉

Cineastes, of course, know the zollamtssteg bridge in Vienna from the romantic 90s movie "Before Sunrise" with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. That for the film in terms of romance would have been even more possible you can see in this photo decorated with beautiful spring flowers. Doesn't that immediately melt your heart? But unfortunately no one asked me before the shooting. 🤷🏻‍♂️😉

Just build it yourself!

Admittedly, next to the impressive building of the Musikverein, the building of the Künstlerhaus sometimes gets a bit lost. Yet not only the building in the style of the Italian Renaissance but also the history behind it is extremely significant! Because it was the first building created by artists for themselves as an exhibition and club house in the entire German-speaking world. Where once romantically flowed past the Vienna River however, today only the traffic flows past Charles' Square. All the more pleasant the artistic tranquility of the magnificent interior. Among other things, currently with an exciting exhibition on racism and ownership!

World Day of Tourist Guides!

1985, the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations was founded and has been based in Vienna since 1987. This has now been commemorated for 33 years by the World Day of Tourist Guides. Yesterday it was that time again! And after a virtual World Day last year due to the pandemic, the enthusiasm was all the greater to be present again on site at the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) in Vienna. Of course with a strict pandemic concept! 3 different free guided tours focused on Vienna and the artists around 1900. I'm glad that I could be a part of it!!
