1️⃣ Gata Loops, Ladakh: A 10.3 km stretch with 21 sharp hairpin bends on the Leh-Manali Highway. It climbs to Nakeela La and features paved roads with shortcuts for small vehicles, making for a thrilling ride.
2️⃣ Zigzag Road, Sikkim: Located at 14,140 feet, this route is known for steep U-turns, harsh weather, and narrow paths. It’s open only part of the year and recommended for experienced drivers.
3️⃣ Zoji La Pass, Jammu and Kashmir: At 11,575 feet, this pass links Srinagar to Leh. Known for its cliff-edge roads, landslides, and snowy conditions, it’s one of India’s most perilous drives.
4️⃣ NH 5, Himachal Pradesh: Formerly NH 22, this road between Shimla and Kinnaur has steep cliffs, narrow paths, and the risky Taranda Dhank stretch, demanding cautious driving.
5️⃣ Khardung La Pass, Ladakh: At 17,582 feet, this high-altitude pass connects Leh to Nubra Valley. Known for rough terrain and unpredictable weather, it’s a favourite among adventurers.
6️⃣ Kolli Hills Road, Tamil Nadu: Called the “Mountain of Death,” this road is infamous for its 70 sharp U-turns, poor visibility, and challenging ascents through Kolli Hills.
