FEEDBACK: Horse Safari Volunteer Experience

🇬🇧 Louise Saul, from the UK, took two weeks away from her job exercising polo ponies at home, and volunteered in Mpumalanga, South Africa. 🇿🇦

Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

‘I had an amazing time on the Horse Safari Volunteer Experience. The horses were so much fun to ride and I was really impressed how sure footed they were across any terrain.
Tamlyn and Rebecca were both wonderful guides who knew so much about the landscape and wildlife and were brilliant at using every little clue to help guide our rides towards some amazing wildlife sightings. Of course part of the adventure is not knowing what you might see each day but I had plenty of unique wildlife sightings that I will never forget.
Thank you for making me feel so at home and welcome from the minute I arrived, I hope to come back sometime’.

✨ Louise’s favourite experience:
‘When we were just heading out to ride at Nkomazi we heard on the radio that the lions were coming towards the horse pen, so rode into the horse pen and got to see them walking round the perimeter whilst we were in there which was very cool!’

RIDE 4 BLACK RHINO!

We have been absolutely itching to announce this one, as rhinos are just our absolute favorite!

We are looking for some lucky volunteers, to spend 8-12 weeks at Kuzikus Game Reserve, Namibia, volunteering with riding safari horses and guests.

🦏 8 Weeks: GBP £400
🦏 12 Weeks: GBP £500

Cost covers accommodation and food.

⭐️ We urgently need a volunteer from 1st October for 8-12 weeks. (Other dates also available, get in touch). ⭐️

Assist with safari rides, and help care for the herd of ten amazing safari horses between rides, in return for a truly amazing experience, with plenty of riding!

There are very few horse safaris out there that allow you to ride with rhino, and especially the critically endangered black rhino. Other species on the reserve that you will encounter from the saddle include giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, springbok, hyena, pangolins, aardvarks, ostrich and impala to name but a few!

Every now and then you meet a hero.

Jane, from the UK, and aged 70, recently spent two week on the Riders Gone Wild Equestrian escape. And what a legend she is!

Our trips are not just for youngsters, and if like Jane you are still young at heart, and want to experience all the world has to offer, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Not everyone is physically able to ride for several hours a day at this age, so no matter your age, take life by the reins while you still can!

‘If you are looking for a whole new experience, riding forward going and very fit horses, seeing a huge variety of wild animals, meeting new like minded people, making amazing memories all at a very reasonable cost, then this is for you’.

🐆 WE ARE JUST SO EXCITED!!! 🐆

Big announcement!

Our riders on the South Africa Equestrian Escape can look forward to wildlife encounters like this!

Tamlyn at the Horse Safari Company has bought new horses in, and moved them to Nkomazi Game Reserve, home to some very photogenic cheetahs.

Our current volunteers are splitting their time between Nkomazi Game Reserve, and Shikondo Game Reserve, where the main camp is. A whole new reserve to explore!

🐆 Nkomazi is home to elephants, lion, leopard, cheetah, and buffalo. Riders can now get some great wildlife viewing and personal encounters with many of the more exciting larger game species. Plains wildlife include giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and hartebeest to name but a few!

Riders are currently exploring the reserve, teaching the newer horses the ropes, and making some magical memories! Future riders will be involved with assisting with overnight guests on safari rides at Nkomazi

Botswana Safari Accommodation! 🇧🇼

One of the best parts of going in a riding safari, is the unique ‘glamping’ style accommodation!

And of course, riders are brought through morning coffee straight to their bed! ☕️

The Botswana Safari is a mobile safari, with riders adventuring and travelling between the following three camps:

⭐️ Camp Two Mashatu
- Built in the shade of a Mashatu tree. Riders are accommodated in A-frame walk-in tents, with en-suite bathrooms and hot water showers. Each tent has a small deck area on which to relax and watch wildife passing by. Baboons often take a dip in the pool, when saddle sore riders aren’t using it!

⭐️ Tree Camp
Literally built in the boughs of a high tree, with sleeping pods in a semi-circle on the decking with the dining area in the centre.
The ultimate childhood dream becoming a reality. Fall asleep to the sound of wildlife.

⭐️ Kgotla Camp
- Sleep under the stars! Guests sleep on beds around a large log fire which blazing at the centre. There is nothing like an unpolluted African night sky, and of the course the sunset in the morning!
