According to a study done by U.S. Travel association, 82% of Americans stated that they travel to relax and reduce stress. Serenity is key in self-care. Serenity is defined as "the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled," according to Oxford Languages. Within the past month, I have taken two weekend trips within NYS. I spent a weekend in the Finger Lakes region with my best friends and our boyfriends. I also spent another weekend in Cranberry Lake in the Adirondack Mountains with my boyfriend and his loved ones. It is so important to have these weekend getaways as a means of clearing your mind and embracing all the natural world has to offer. The feeling of the crisp fall air while sitting around a campfire is just so refreshing and peaceful. I look forward to these getaways as I can relax and forget about the stressors of my everyday life. I am currently on strike with my hospital nursing job, so being able to unwind and take my mind off of my anxiety triggers does wonders. I highly encourage anyone and everyone regardless of stress levels to take just one weekend to travel and unwind. You don't have to travel far by any means or spend an arm and a leg.
