On #WorldEnvironmentDay, we’re celebrating #GenerationRestoration with a message from one of our very first Highland Tourism CIC Ambassadors and inspirational young person, Innes Morgan.
Thank you to Innes and all our Highland Tourism CIC and Highland Renewables Ambassadors for their time, expertise and passion in helping us on our mission for the Highlands to become a world leader in sustainability and a great place to live, work, study, visit and invest in.

We are excited to have fellow Highlander and former Visit Scotland Head of Marketing, Alistair Gronbach, join the CIC team to create the vision and plan for ‘brand Highlands’.
As a CIC, with Ambassadors and communities we’ve been exploring how we can seamlessly integrate sustainable energy regeneration into the fabric of the Highland experience. We are delighted to have Alistair’s expertise on board to drive forward the development of this vision.
It’s not just about preserving the environment, it’s about celebrating the harmony between nature and innovation.
We are proud to be pioneering an approach that does not exist anywhere else in the world through the evolution of Brand Highlands!

What a year it has been! As we take a moment to think back over 2023 and all the activity and growth Highland Tourism CIC has experienced, we are overwhelmed with the support we've received from our ambassadors, sponsors and the tourism and renewables community here in the Highlands and beyond.
Our ambassadors have grown to 175 people who are passionate about the opportunity for the Highlands to become a world leading sustainable destination.
We launched a new visitor site Escape to the Highlands (https://escapetothehighlands.org) as well as a dedicated platform for food and drink in the Highlands (https://highlandfoodanddrink.org)
We developed Highland Renewables - In a world first, tourism and renewables came together to form a mutually beneficial union. Working together, the leaders of the renewables and tourism sectors are aiming to transform the Highlands, supporting communities, and businesses and developing infrastructure that will make the region a global leader in sustainable tourism. https://www.highlandrenewables.org
We gained government support with Kate Forbes MSP leading the launch of Highland Renewables and subsequent workshop and roadshows planned for 2024.
To date, we have invested over £500k of private sector resources in developing a Community Interest Company, a Highland Brand and strategy that will drive the Highlands forward as a world leading sustainable destination and we are well on our way to enabling that to happen!
Our founding sponsor, Tomatin Distillery, has provided our community and the Highlands with the most fantastic opportunity.
Here's to 2024! Watch this space for more exciting news from Highland Tourism CIC and Highland Renewables in January. If you'd like to know more about our activities and events and would like to get involved in this exciting initiative, please get in touch at [email protected]
On behalf of the Highland Tourism CIC Board and wider team, wishing you all the best for 2024!
