Kok Boru season is in full swing in rural Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 Trip leader Mikhail had the chance to see a game in action on his off day. Viewing a live Kok Boru match is a one of the many highlights on our Winter (December - February) trips to Kyrgyzstan!
Rural Kyrgyzstan is magical! Horses, sky-reaching mountains, pristine and picturesque landscapes, quaint villages, the most friendly and warm-hearted people…. WHAT A COMBINATION!
On our tours to beautiful Kyrgyzstan, we spend 4 days in this paradise on earth!
Hidayat was about to sleep… but then it was also his birthday. So, we surprised him 😂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY YAT 🎂🎉
Happy birthday Sammie!
We celebrated Sammie’s birthday at our homestay in Borbash, Kyrgyzstan by throwing her a surprise birthday party 🎂🎉
One of our trip highlights — and certainly the most memorable and favourite part of the trip for many of our travellers — is the homestay experience at Janibek’s home in the quaint and peaceful village of Borbash in Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬
Janibek and his family, a family of bakers and farmers, warmly invite travellers to their house to show them life in the picturesque and quaint Kyrgyz countryside. During our homestay, our travellers visit hubs of local life (markets, schools, farms, villages), nearby waterfalls, mountains, valleys, rivers, attend local events (such as watching ‘Kok Boru’, a nomadic horse game, and attending weddings), and learn how to prepare sumptuous Central Asian and Kyrgyz food!
Tashkent, the Uzbek Capital, is also the largest city in Central Asia. After a disastrous earthquake in the 1960s, the Soviet government rebuilt Tashkent into a model Soviet city. Today, Tashkent is a beautiful amalgam of buildings and architectural style dating back to the Silk Road and Soviet eras.
During our trips to Tashkent, we explore the city’s bazaars, marvel at the Tashkent’s beautiful Soviet-era brutalist buildings, ride the city’s opulently decorated subway, walk in the city’s many beautiful public parks… amongst many other things.
Have you ever watched Kok Boru? 🏇🏾
Kok Boru is a traditional Central Asian sport in which horse-mounted players attempt to place a goat or calf carcass in a goal.
During our winter tours, our travellers has the rare opportunity to watch a few of these nomadic games being played live across rural southern Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬
Our trip leader, Mikhail Vasilev, is teaching us how to make ice cream straight out of the fresh snow in a rural and mountainous region of Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬
