WHY ANIMAL KINGDOM IS *NOT* A HALF-DAY PARK
Animal Kingdom is much different than the other three parks. As imagineer and Disney Legend Joe Rohde said, “There are details within details within details to anchor you in the fact that we are talking about the real world, not an illustrated children's book fantasy world.” Thus, Animal Kingdom is a park to be experienced, not to be rushed.
See all four shows, including Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo the Musical, It’s Tough To Be A Bug, and Feathered Friends in Flight.
Walk the two exploration trails to see lots of animals and get some great photos. Also walk the paths that go directly under the Tree and see how many animals you can find carved into it.
Ride the train out to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Take an animation class from a real Disney animator and pet the goats.
Try one of Satuli Canteen’s signature bowls, and get one of the giant pretzels with beer cheese from the standright outside the restaurant.
Dance with the Tam Tam Drummers and ask to get a photo with them.
See Mickey and Minnie at Adventurer’s Outpost, or the characters from Up! all around the park.
Grab a Simba cupcake at Harambe Market
Become a Wilderness Explorer and earn all the badges. The wilderness must be explored!
Watch blue macaws fly over the Tree of Life once per hour, then get a really close look at them on the rocks.
Try some spiked dole whip at Tamu Tamu, if you are into that sort of thing.
And that’s saying nothing about the several excellent rides at the park including Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro Safaris (a 25 minute experience with more animals and more photos!), Navi River Journey, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids…
…you get the idea.
Plan a full day and really explore this gem of a park! You will be glad that you did. 🌳

First time eating at Sci-Fi. What a neat experience. Follow and check the comments for more pics and food review.
What a whirl-wind. To say this was our most eventful trip is putting it mildly. I’ve been mia and not posting cause what I thought was just my own “intolerant” stomach to something I ate hit Allan yesterday. Fingers are now crossed and prayers are being said the kids avoid it. Always be prepared and ready to tolerate, well just life. Thursday was an amazing thanksgiving at MK. Friday was fantastic at Hollywood. Saturday was to be Epcot day and Allan ended up taking the kids while I hung back. Sunday was perfect with fishing and party. Monday we decided to change Animal Kingdom day to another Epcot and it was Allans turn to stay back. Off to springs for some shopping and sun and while we aren’t ready to return to snow it will be good to get home.
What is the best age? This is what I get asked all the time. The boy in this video is 5. He remembers NONE of THIS moment, howver, he does remember some others. THIS moment I remember. I remember it as clearly as it was yesterday. I can hear "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" by Percy Faith crystal clear, I can see him feeding the ducks his leftover french fries (I know I know I do not condone this it was a rough day and I didn't have the heart to stop him). I can remember how sad I was that we realized this day that he has crowd anxiety and spend most of the day in his stroller. This moment however, it was perfect. Perfect peace, magical christmas moments, HUGE memories. It means next to nothing to him, but the WORLD to me. Sometimes these moments aren't about what they will remember, but what WE will remember. As moms/dads we work so hard to make it perfect for them. Those few fleeting moments when its perfect for us also matter. #christmasmemories #wdw #ilovechristmasatwdw #mcvjen
After using the new magicband+ at Disney in August here are the pros and cons. Pros: beautiful with the lights during the evening, fun to interact with the statues. Cons: charge did not last long, rfid would pick up the statue before I was near enough to enjoy the sound at the statue, the lights take your attention away from watching the fireworks. Watch for a link to my full blog in the future.
