I know what I'd like to wear, but have always been too messy and dishevelled to pull off anything slick. I'm the chick that always has a hair out of place, and it usually belongs to the cat. Actually they are more of a novel! I started collecting baby and toddler clothes in my mid 20's. This feels like a confession! I'm out of the baby fashion closet ... I am liberated! So a few ... maybe ten ...
OK, thirteen ... years passed and I did this amazing thing where I grew a baby and brought the most amazing little human into the world. The most intense emotional journey of my life exposed an unexpected development ... I really love this! I was made to be this awesome kid's Mum. I was meant to feed him, and protect him, and bathe him, and DRESS him!!! Then the bewilderment set in. Where do I find gear cool enough to tell the world "This child is loved SO VERY much ... AND DAMN is he cool!!" ?? I scoured the shops, spent sleepless nights expressing milk and searching the internet for clothes that told a story about the love I have for this tiny body with massive personality. I started thinking "There has to be an easier way". So I took the hardest route and decided to source the good stuff and share it with all the other hunters, searching for something different that really captures a glimpse of their precious little humans. I know the clothes don't actually maketh the man, or little person in this case. Of course my guy spends most of his time at home as nature intended ... naked and smothered in sunscreen ... AND I am a Mum, so comfort and durability are of course sacrosanct. Who knew giving birth would make me practical? (The midwives didn't mention that in my antenatal classes!) BUT if fun is the name of the childhood game, then I want clothes that add to the experience. And I think that is what I have found. My evolution from woman to mother is ongoing, and I'm guessing the wardrobe project will become more complex as my small and delicious human starts exercising his right to choose. But I'm up to the challenge! Disclaimer: my scrummy little human does not feature on the interweb, but I assure you he is my fit model for most of the kooKI duDs collection. And he seriously rocks it with oodles of enthusiasm and attitude!
