Thankful to have achieved the requirements to become a superhost once again. We have hosted some great folks from lots of places near and far. We are thankful for our local support who come along side us to make it happen.

Today marks one year of making the cottage ours. We have hosted folks from Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois and possibly more. We have had the opportunity to enjoy visits as well…in between putting our touch on it. (We call this work.) Spent a few days last week at the cottage making sure our guests have a great experience while they stay with us. Yardwork along with planting a few flowers. replacing screen on sliding door, added up lighting on side porch so the area can be better enjoyed at night. In observance of the upcoming patriotic holidays, red, white and blue lights we added to front porch. We sanded and clear coated some chairs for the fire pit area. I refreshed with some paint around the front door. Vernon cleaned the oak strings off the tops of the gutter. Doesn’t sound like vacation but we feel like we accomplished some things that needed to be addressed and other things we have wanted to do. We did get a day on the river. Great weather to work in.

Perching on our peaceful porch tonight…listening to bellows, birds and bugs (Lots of alliteration there😉) So excited about a float on the river tomorrow. Availability just came open for this coming weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are open (March 22-24.) Weather forecast is warming up some and looks like it will be a great weekend to roam in the trails and soak in the hot tub. It is 10 minutes from the Buffalo National River, located between Harrison and Jasper AR. Reserve through the website link and avoid fees from booking sites.

Being in the New Moon stage, and the cool crisp air that moved in after the rain, and with very little light pollution, conditions were perfect in Marble Falls for star gazing. Wow, we were “awamazed.” I wish every guest could experience this view…and we thought the view of the mountains couldn’t be topped! Pictures do NOT do it justice.

The Daisy Queen - 7 South is the closest eatery to the cottage, less than 3 miles away. Just updated the welcome book with their new menu. We can’t wait to try the new chocolate soft serve.

What is on my mind is Sunday’s lunch special at Big Springs Trading Company. We feasted on meatloaf with smoked bacon, new potatoes, a fresh salad with mountain dressing and a roll. Oh, we had to have a side of fried cabbage. It is so yummy. We took a molasses cookie for the road trip back to the delta. Find this hidden gem on Hwy 65 near St. Joe.
