I’m an enthusiastic member of team carry-on, and I’m often asked by clients how I manage to do that. Finding tiny, TSA friendly versions of products that do double (or triple!) duty is the secret. Here’s an in-depth look at my toiletry kit for an upcoming 5-night trip.

🧳 Folding toothbrush
🧳 Mini toothpaste sample
🧳 Chapstick (works on lips, hands, face)
🧳 Jewelry cleaning stick
🧳 Mini Deodorant tub (also works on walking-induced “hot spots”)
🧳 Contact case with moisturizer and sunscreen
🧳 Facial serum trial size (also great for soothing skin after sun burn)

Always, always, always get travel insurance when going abroad.

With all the talk regarding cancellations and delays during the recent hurricanes, it's important to remember that travel insurance is great for protecting the money you paid towards a trip. That small amount pales in comparison, though, to what it would cost for medical evacuation, which is a six-digit expense. In addition, your regular medical coverage will not cover you outside the US, and paying out of pocket for a hospital stay becomes astronomical very quickly. Fortunately, medical emergencies like that are rare, but not as rare as you’d think.
