These are some of the questions we are frequently asked when people find out we live in a converted school bus. #skoolie #buslife #questions
It’s always the first question, that people ask us when they find out we’re living on the road. How do you afford this? The answer is quite easy. We rarely pay for camping! Check out this free campsite that we’re currently staying at. You can stay here for up to 14 days absolutely free. #nomad #buslife #busconversion #convertedbus #freecamping #free #camping #lifeontheroad #wanderlust

Part 2 of changing the tire by hand, replacing the new tire on the rim. Carmen did a great job explaining the steps and tools needed for this process, making it easier than expected. Links to the tools we used are on our profile page, please follow the affiliate links so we can receive credit. #skoolie #skoolieconversion #skooliebuild #busconversions

After removing the seats and wheelchair rails off the floor we ended up with lots and lots of holes in the floor. Over 900 holes to be exact! To make the job a little easier and cheaper but still secure and waterproof we plugged the holes with pennies, adhered with “through the roof” caulk. It’s waterproof and has great hold and after a week of curing, we’ll be able to paint it and move ahead with the insulation and flooring. Stay tuned to see how it worked out! Like and follow please! Hell, you can even share it! 😘
Removing the interior side walls to see what’s underneath. It was a bit of a pain because we found out they are attached beneath the windows, but we figured out a solution! Day 3 and the bus is pretty much empty and ready to have the floor painted soon. #skoolie #skoolieconversion #skoolielife #skooliebuild #skoolienation #schoolbusconversion #buslife #liveinabus #wander #wanderer #nomad #wanderlust #skooliesofinstagram #building #construction #conversion #busconversionmagazine
Found a great product that we could remove the decals in a quick and clean manner! #skoolie #skoolieconversion #skooliefamily #skoolielife #skooliesofinstagram #skooliebuild
Removing the decals
One of the first projects for the bus is to remove all decals for the school district, the words “school bus” and instructions to stop at the red flashing lights. We discovered a great tool to help get these off instead of using a heat gun and scraper! It’s a 4” rubber eraser wheel found on Amazon. Watch the video for our tips and tricks and purchase by following the affiliate link. Your purchase helps us fund our project, Thank you!
