As majestic as this looks, this Arctic Tern was trying to give me a haircut. They are very territorial and quite aggressive 😂

I used a slightly slower shutter speed in this shot 1/800th of a second which was sharp enough for the head/body but just slow enough for the wing tips to blur. This slow shutter speed effect will depend on that particular BIF!

Understanding how to keep yourself safe while out in the wilderness is essential for adventurers and wildlife photographers. It’s vital you are prepared for particularly dangerous encounters in whatever location you’re at.

Know how to act for particular animals. Never run nor turn your back

Wildlife will act like this if they feel they are threatened or their offspring are threatened or if you scare them/catch them off guard.

Explore with 2-4 people, 1 bear spray per person, noise making horn, pocket knifes and make noise when going around blind corners and bends.

Stay safe photographers! For the wildlife’s well-being and yours.
